Chapter Thirteen

I had to get out of her even if it's just for a few hours, I changed my leggings since these were muddy and I grabbed my bag and left the key inside for Riley

Once I had my things I left through the back door and stayed around the backs of the cabins trying not to be seen

Once I reached the front of camp I picked up my speed and started walking faster, when I was further down the road I called myself an Uber

"Where to?" The uber guy asked once I sat in

"The closest place with food" he nodded and started driving

The drive wasn't that long so I payed and got out, the diner he brought me too was this old retro styled 50 or 60s diner. I liked it, it was unique and very colourful

I sat down at a red booth and order a milkshake and some fries

Lucas PoV

I waited an hour for everyone to get back and still no Maya, Riley said she hasn't seen her either

"Has anyone seen Maya?" I asked my group everyone mumbled and said no

It was quiet for a moment, I was starting to panic her mom warned us that she would probably pack up and leave at some point but she didn't know her way around her and I wanted her to come back

"I saw her leave in an Uber" one girl spoke up, yes! This was good

"Thanks" I couldn't just leave now I had to watch the group

But I couldn't just leave Maya either

"Okay guys listen up" I clapped my hands to get everyone's attention

"Free day today, our activities have been cancelled we will do them tomorrow. Any problems with that?" They all mumbled again talking to one another but I didn't hear any objections so that was good enough

"Great have fun, be safe" I quickly started walking towards the exit of camp

"I want to go too." Riley said speed walking to match my pace

"No Riley I'll be right back just stay here" I ordered her what to do and Riley was the type of girl who always stuck to the rules so I knew she would stay

I called up the closest Uber and they got here in about five minutes "Hey, did you just drop off another person, a girl blonde?"

He checked the app on his phone and turned slightly to face me "Yeah just down the road I took her to Jack's diner"

"Great I'll go there thanks" he didn't ask any other questions and just drove me there

As he pulled up and I got out I could see Maya, she was sitting looking really sad in the corner in one of those red high top leather booths

I didn't want her to sit alone and look upset anymore so I went up to her but I was also worried who knew what I was going to say

Maya PoV

I saw the same car I was in pull up and wait Lucas what was he doing here?

"Huckleberry?" Once he noticed me he rushed over and sat opposite me

"Hart!" I couldn't tell if he was annoyed or happy to see me

"What? I was only down the road, kinda" I had planned to either sit here or just get driven around somewhere else

"You didn't tell anyone" I rolled my eyes why do people have to know where I am constantly

"What's the problem?" I shrugged my shoulders and carried on eating my fries

"I thought you weren't coming back" he spoke quieter, I felt a little bad

I placed my hand over his "Ranger Rick, I'm sorry I just needed to get away from everything and everyone" I mainly just meant Jay but I couldn't tell him that

He held my hand "Everyone?"

I softly smiled "Okay maybe not everyone"

"What's going on Maya" and we were back go the questions, I literally felt I was being interrogated

An interrogation would probably be easier.

"I'm fine, you don't need to keep interrogating me" I moved my hand from his and just carried on eating not talking

"Maya talk to me" I shook my head and gritted my teeth I wanted him to drop it can't I just leave without it becoming loads of questions

"Maya please" he really could not take a hint

"Lucas seriously I'm fine, drop it or I'm leaving right now!" I raised my voice more and he stood up from the booth

"Okay I'm sorry" he walked away but I realised he was just putting some music on, he walked back over and reached his hand out too me

"Would you like to join me in a dance?" There wasn't any other people here except the waitresses probably because it's early

I shook my head still frowning and that's when Lucas climbed up onto the table opposite me

What the hell was he doing!

He started dancing on the table top I face palmed myself in embarrassment, why weren't they stopping him

I looked up at him just spinning around and I couldn't help but laugh, he was just dancing and grinning it was actually funny

I yelled for him to stop in between laughs he laughed and jumped down "I knew I could make you laugh"

"You're crazy" I giggled again he shrugged his shoulders

"You really don't have to tell me anything" I nodded and slightly smiled

"I guess I'm just not used to this" I looked down at my drink and started twirling the straw around

"Used to what?" He questioned putting his full attention on me

"People caring" I looked up and he looked a little taken back by what I said

"We should probably go back" I suggested and stood up out of the booth

Lucas agreed and followed me outside, I took out my phone to ring another Uber

"We can walk, it's not that far" I liked the idea of spending more time with him so I agreed

As we walked back we talked about all sorts, Lucas told me a little about himself and I told him somethings about me - keeping out the bad things

By the time we got back to camp I really felt happier and like I knew him, to be honest I'm so glad he came out to find me even if he did embarrass me by dancing on the tables
