Chapter Sixteen

"Morning" Riley yawned as she got out of bed

"Good morning" I said back still smiling from last night

Riley was so tired this morning she didn't even notice Lucas's jacket on my seat, she just went straight in the bathroom to get a shower

I heard a knock on the back door of the cabin so I quickly stood up and opened it

When I opened the door nobody was stood there so I went outside slightly to see if anyone was walking away from the door

As soon as I stepped outside I felt somebody grab my arm and pull me to the side

I was pushed up against the side of the cabin not in a way that would hurt me though, when I saw who it was my eyes widened and I tried to leave but he held me back and placed his hand over my mouth

"Just stop fighting me" Jay whispered, I glared at him but did as he said and stood still

He moved his hands from around me and off my mouth "What do you want now?" I said coldly keeping a harsh stare on him

"Look Hunter—Hart sorry" I sighed and crossed my arms

"You changed why don't you think I could do the same?" I scoffed and rolled my eyes he is not capable of change in any way

"I was nowhere near as shit as you are" I hissed aggressively

"I'm not that bad Maya, you're painting me out like a villain" Was he serious? After everything he had done he's luckily I'm even speaking to him right now

"You threatened me and my friends literally yesterday!" I whisper yelled

"I wouldn't ever hurt you, and I only said if your friends got in my way. I'm not here to hurt anyone" I slouched back leaning one foot against the side of the cabin showing my disinterest

"Why are you here, seriously?" I unfolded my arms and waited for an answer

He hesitated before speaking again "Can't I come and see my girlfriend?" I stood up straighter immediately and walked closer to him

Flashback - When Maya was 14

Maya and Jay had just finished training and they decided to go and take a walk in the flower gardens

They walked to their favourite spot, it was this wonderfully beautiful pink cherry tree that stretched up high

Maya lay against Jay sitting in his arms, they would lie and watch the clouds pass by and try and figure out what the shape of the clouds look like

As they lay there today Jay took something out of his pocket and Maya's interest peaked, it was a little black square box

Jay unwrapped his arm from around Maya's shoulders and they sat up "Hey Hunter?" Jay said nervously

"Get on with it Woods" Maya smiled goofily with curiosity building up inside her

He chuckled and opened up the box to reveal a dazzling silver and blue gem necklace, she was in awe and speechless. It was astoundingly beautiful and breathtaking

Jay put it on her and she turned back around to him "What's this for?" She asked as she admired the new necklace around her neck

"Well I've been wanting to ask you something for a while now but I've been too nervous which is stupid because I don't get nervous at all but I am extremely worried to ask you this because we are such good friends and we have been best friends since we were kids and-" he started rambling to stall asking whatever question he wanted to ask Maya
