Chapter Twenty-Two

I knocked on his door again "Open up Friar it's cold out here!"

"Come on I'm freezing my ass off" I banged on his door again

I'm impatient okay!

Lucas opened the door and I went to go inside but he quickly shook his head "Hart you know Margery, right?"

My eyes widened at the realisation, I was so close to saying some inappropriate joke good thing I didn't

Lucas moved to the side and Margery his boss, the owner of the camp came outside

"H-hi Margery I didn't know you were here I'm sorry" I composed myself quickly and put on a smile

"That's quite alright dear" she smiled brightly at me and turned back to Lucas

"Lucas please let me know if you hear anything" he nodded

"Of course" she looked back at me

"Is there anything I can help you with Maya?" She asked, I shook my head and looked at Lucas

"This is something I need Friars help with" I need to think of something and fast what can I ask him for? That Margery can't help with?

"I um I have a skunk in my room" Will that work?

Why is that the first thing I can think of?

"Oh well don't let me keep you any longer, hope you can get that skunk away. Lucas if you need me to call any pest control people let me know" she patted me on my arm and walked away

We waited until she was out of sight and then I quickly went inside

"Sorry I didn't know she was here" Lucas locked the front door and I went over to his bed and sat down

Lucas came over and sat next to me "It's okay it was a surprise visit I'm just glad she got here before you"

I kicked my shoes off and lay down more lying against Lucas "Just be glad I didn't start shouting inappropriate jokes through the door to just get inside"

"You wouldn't?" He chuckled

"Don't question my methods it would work because you would want me to shut up and so you'd open the door" I looked up and him and he was just smiling I couldn't really tell what he was thinking

Probably thinking wow Maya is adorably funny

"Why was she here?" I questioned hoping he wasn't in any trouble

"Something about break ins" I bet I know who's behind that

Jay.

We just sat there for a moment until I broke the silence "So I almost shot your ex with an arrow today"

"Yeah you did, why did you do that?" I knew we should probably talk about this more that's why I brought it up but now we're talking about it I regret bringing it up

"Because I was jealous and I let myself get angry.." I sighed

"I guess I wasn't sure if you would say no to her" I didn't look up at him I just looked down and away

I was showing a much more vulnerable side to myself that I usually don't let people see but I feel like I can be vulnerable and honest with Lucas and he wouldn't judge me

"Maya incase you hadn't noticed I like you okay, a lot and you don't know me that well I understand but trust me I would never cheat on you" he moved his hand under my chin and moved my face so I was looking up at him

"But we aren't really in a relationship so it wouldn't really be cheating" a smile came on his face, he really does have the best smile

"Hart is this your way of saying you want me to ask you to be my girlfriend" I held off a smile of my own

"I mean if you wanted to ask me I wouldn't say no" He put his arm around me and pulled me closer

"Maya Penelope Hart" I cringed and pulled a face

"Ugh I forgot you know my middle name" he laughed and carried on

"Maya will you be my secret girlfriend" I giggled and nodded

"Yes huckleberry I will" We both smiled and I leaned up and kissed him

4 weeks later ..

"I can't believe there's only 2 more weeks of camp" Riley slumped down on her bed

"We both live in New York and I have your number, there's nothing to be sad about" Just as I said this Riley sat up more and pulled me into a tight hug

I hugged her back "I'll miss you Peaches"

"I'll miss you too Riles" we stopped hugging and I kept hold of her hand

"We still have two weeks let's make the most of it" this camp has been growing on me and I'm having a lot of fun but I'm getting more anxious everyday

Jay has been surprisingly quiet recently and there have been more break ins and Jay has been talking a lot with the campers which isn't that weird but something doesn't feel right and he's been getting a lot of phone calls lately and every time he gets a call when it ends he looks scared and angry

Just as I was getting lost in thought a voice came over the speakers "Could everyone please report to the assembly hall we have some news all campers need to hear"

Me and Riley just looked at each other equally confused this was weird what the hell is going on ?

We got down from Riley's bed and started to make our way over to the hall by the time we got there it was already pretty full up

Okay now I'm starting to get worried
