Chapter Twenty-Seven

As I was walking back to my group I bumped into Lucas

"Hey" I softly smiled

"I've been looking for you" I acted like I didn't know he was looking for me

"Oh really? I told Charlie to tell you I would be right back" I played it off and hoped that Charlie stuck to his promise to cover for me

"Yeah he said" at least Charlie stuck to his word that's good

But then why did Lucas come looking for me if he knew I would be right back

"But, Carl was teaching the class so I'm free for the day" he smiled, aw he's cute

Did he just want to spend time with me?

"Well aren't you sweet" I smiled back

"So what do you feel like doing?" He asked but I knew I had to pack and leave before anyone noticed

I don't want to leave, but if what Jay said is true and they are really coming here at the end of camp then I'm putting everyone in so much more danger by staying here

Maybe I should just let myself have one more day to be happy before I have to drop off the face of the earth and move again

"Anything at all, as long as I'm with you" We both smiled and Lucas took my hand in his

"Come on" he smirked and started walking

I giggled and walked with him "Where are we going Huckleberry?"

"You'll see Hart" I don't like surprises but he's so happy I'll let him keep it a secret

We walked for a while and I realise we were heading to the beach we were at near the start of summer

As we walked I held my hand in his, I felt so safe and comfortable with him

I got off my shoes and we started to walk across the beach, it was such a beautiful day. The sun was shinning brightly there wasn't a cloud in sight and the water was still

"So what are we doing here Huckleberry?" I asked whilst we walked and he just looked down at me and smiled

"You'll see" He was really keeping up the suspense and my curiosity is growing

I put my shoes back on leaning against Lucas as I did and then we walked up some rocks, I tightly clutched his hand

I try and pretend nothing scares me but I'm terrified of heights I could feel my legs going weak and my heart rate rising

I looked down at the water below us feeling more scared and then looked at Lucas "Now are you going to tell me what we're doing here?"

"I told you that day on the beach. I'll get you to go cliff jumping one day and today is that day Hart" I raised my eyebrows and shook my head

Yeahhh, nope, not going to happen!

I scoffed "No way Ranger Rick" I looked back down over the edge of the cliff it's just so far

Lucas gently placed his hand on my cheek and moved my head up to face him "Just look at me, I promise you'll have fun"

I gulped, I'm not sure about this

I think he could tell I was very worried "We don't have too I just thought it would be fun" he reassuringly smiled

But I just feel bad he likes all these sporty type things

"Let's just sit here, I might change my mind" I moved a bit away from the ledge and sat down

The view was actually pretty when I was sitting down and panicking less, oh don't get me wrong I'm still terrified but just less scared. The cliff was quite large so I wasn't close to the edges when we were sitting down

We sat there for quite a while maybe an hour just talking and being with each other, it had gotten a little darker and the sky was more cloudy

I took a deep breath and stood up, I am a badass I can jump off a cliff

"Where are you going?" He said looking up at me

I started taking off my jeans and shirt, if I'm jumping in cold water I am not getting my clothes wet too

"Let's do it" I smirked trying to hide my fear

Lucas stood up too and took off his jeans and shirt "You sure? We don't have too?" I nodded and stepped closer to him

"You're sweet Huckleberry but come on let's do this before I change my mind" He chuckled and held my hand

"Don't worry Shortstack I've got you" I glared at him, I'm the one in this relationship who gives nicknames

As we got closer to the edge I clutched Lucas's hand tighter "Ready?" He asked and I just nodded

I took a deep breath and then we both jumped off together, I felt the wind hitting my face as we fell, well jumped and when we reached the water it was fricken freezing!

I held my breath as we hit the water and I ended up letting go of Lucas's hand. I swam back up to the surface and regained my breath

Truthfully it was fun, it was such an adrenaline rush. Still very scary and I probably won't do it again but it was fun

I looked around but I couldn't spot Lucas "Huckleberry?" I shouted, he's probably just swam further out than me or maybe reached the shore

The water was getting more rapid and there were more waves than before

"Lucas?" I shouted again, okay now I'm panicking
