You and Me

Chapter Thirty-Two

I first got Riley and Farkle from my cabin and I led them to Lucas's they kept asking me millions of questions that I knew I had to answer

I just can't right now

We got to Lucas's cabin and it was locked, I knocked on but he ignored the knock since he knew it was me

"Huckleberry let me in" I knocked again, annoyingly though he didn't get up and I can't be spotted right now

I lifted up his mat outside the cabin and grabbed the spare key he left for me and unlocked the door

All three of us came inside and I quickly went and locked the door behind us

Lucas stood up from his bed realising I wasn't alone "So you came back?" He questioned not happy to see me, I don't blame him I broke up with him, with no explanation

"I'm back" I spoke quietly and avoided eye contact with him. I just need to quickly get to the point

I shut all the curtains and made sure all the windows were locked "Maya will you tell us what is going on now?" Riley asked getting impatient

This is what I've been dreading this whole time, now I have no other choice I can't lie anymore they need to know the truth

"You all might want to sit down for this" I suggested so they all moved and sat on Lucas's bed and I stood opposite them to tell them who I really am

"It all started when I was only a child, I was born into it" I was still being vague and probably giving them more questions but I had to start from the beginning or they wouldn't understand

Flashback - Maya at 10 years old

Maya and Jay were practicing sparring against each other

Maya had her signature weapon for sparring two knifes one in each hand and Jay had one sword that seemed too big for his small hands

It seems strange to whoever may not be part of this particular 'family' but when practicing they all used swords or knives to practice quick movements and agility

"Ready?" Jay questioned smirking, Maya laughed a malicious laugh

"Of course" she replied holding up her weapons

"Begin!" Their training instructor demanded making them both a little on edge but making them want to prove their worth

Maya lunged at Jay first but he swiftly blocked her attack and pushed her back. This went on for a while, they weren't allowed to stop until somebody had won

Maya knew this and since she knew they were both getting tired she gave Jay an apologetic look from over her shoulder and understanding what she was going to do he became less defensive but not too much so he didn't alert the trainer

Maya turned around quickly catching Jay off guard and she cut his arm with the blade making him bleed, since she knew this would stop the fight she immediately dropped her weapons and quickly rushed over to Jay holding her hand over the new cut

The instructor took his time making his way over to them and once he had slowly came over to them he threw a towel and bandage down on the ground and as Maya went to pick them up the instructor kicked her in the stomach making her fall to the ground coughing

"Next time don't stop the fight unless your opponent has stopped first" She looked at the instructor and apologised, he grumbled something and walked away

Jay crouched down beside her "Are you okay Ace?" She coughed once more but sat up and regained her breath

"I'm fine it's just training." Maya was always tough and on guard she had to be, she's been forced to grow up quickly they all have

"You should tell your dad you know he'd fire that guy immediately" Maya shrugged

"He's one of Markus's guys he's technically not even part of the academy" she knew her dad didn't know the instructor was like that but she didn't want to cause a hassle or put herself at risk

She didn't say anything else she just helped bandage up Jays arm and they both acted like nothing had happened, after all this was just a normal day for them

End of flashback

"What the hell Maya!" Farkle said almost yelling

I couldn't tell if he was angry with me or what happened back then

"What were you part of?" Riley asked quietly not looking me in my eyes

This is what I was afraid off when I tell them everything they won't ever see me the same

"It's hard to explain, I don't want you to judge me" I sighed holding up a strong exterior, I'm scared

None of them said anything else they just waited for me to explain "like I said I was born into it, I guess you could say it was a gang but it's really more like an academy, we all lived there or close to it and from kids we are trained and raised to do what they tell us"

So far I've not even said the bad things and they already judge me

"Who's they?" Lucas asked finally speaking up but like Riley he wasn't looking at me

He's gone from being in love with me to hating me and judging me for my past

"The instructors, the leaders, the people who have been hunting me since I left and who are here now" When I said this Riley grabbed Farkles arm in worry and shakily let out a breath

"I'm so sorry I didn't think you would all get dragged into this-" I was going to keep apologising but Riley cut me off

"Carry on Maya, if that's even your real name" Ouch Riles, I understand this is all shocking but I need them to understand my side too and not just hate me
