Chapter Fifteen

Lucas PoV

"I hate to break up the happy couple" I heard a voice to the side of us and quickly turned my heard to see who it was

God I almost kissed Maya!

And now we've been caught and I didn't even get to kiss her.

"Friar can I speak to you at the side?" It was Josh of course he's the one who caught us

I stood up and moved a little further away from the campfire and Maya

"What are you doing with the kid?" I hated when he called her a kid she was so much more than that and she's only a little younger

"You can't say anything Josh" he smirked mischievously

Oh jeez what does he want?

"Well you're in quite the situation here aren't you" I rolled my eyes

"You can't judge me Matthews you're the biggest player and you tried hitting on Maya at the beach" I stood up taller making myself look more intimidating, I was slightly taller than Josh and I knew he wouldn't do anything he's all talk

"Look I'll make you a deal, I won't say anything about you and Goldilocks if you-"

I interrupted him "-Josh we're friends we have been for years can't you just do me this one favour without anything in return"

He shrugged his shoulders "I don't know man, you seem pretty desperate to keep this a secret"

"Matthews nothing even happened between us and it's not going to I'm just asking you keep this incident to yourself since I've helped you out before multiple times"

I glanced over at Maya who was still sitting down and pretending not to listen in but I could tell she was hearing this whole conversation

"Okay Friar, since I'm a great friend I'll help you out and maybe you can put in a good word for me" I scoffed, most of the other staff don't really like Josh especially not the girls since they know he's a player but I'm friends with most of them. If I hadn't known him for so many years I'd probably think he was a dick too.

"Get out of here Matthews" he laughed slightly and walked away

I went and sat back down next to Maya "Hey"

She turned to look at me "Hey"

"What now?" She asked and before she could ask anymore I kissed her I've wanted to for a while and I finally did

Josh won't say anything and even if this was just for tonight I knew I had to

She was taken back a bit at first but then she kissed me back "Wh-w-so um -what?" She stuttered looking flustered

"Ouch" she pinched herself "I just wanted to make sure this was real I have a very good imagination"

Does that mean she's imagined kissing me before?

"You kissed me?" I chuckled slightly for a girl who acts confident and tough all the time she seemed overwhelmed

"That's the basis of what happened yes" She was so cute when she was confused, she was at a loss for words

"I'm glad to see my kiss had such an effect on you" she playfully pushed me

"Shut up Huckleberry" she laughed slightly, and she's back to her normal self

"I should probably be getting back, Riley will just ask a lot of questions if I'm not there when she wakes up" I nodded she was right nobody can know about this

"I'll walk you" I offered, I really just wanted to spend some more time with her

As we got to the back door to her cabin the happy smile came off her face "What if Josh tells everyone?"

I shook my head "he won't, trust me" she slightly nodded and turned to go inside

"Would it be too risky if I kissed you right now" I looked around, we weren't that hidden and if anyone came outside the back of the cabin they would see us

"Probably but we have all summer" I reminded with a smirk

"I like the sound of that" she smiled

"But I don't think about the consequences" she bit her lip and kissed me again

I had my arms around her waist and as we kissed I pulled her in closer and her arms were around my neck

"Goodnight Ranger Rick" she said once we had moved away from each other a little

I tipped a fake hat at her and walked off back to my own cabin

Maya PoV

I got into my cabin and took off my shoes and lay in my bed

I kissed Huckleberry

This smile on my face wasn't leaving, I couldn't stop thinking about him

I can't believe that happened

I'm so happy right now, I needed to try and get my mind off him though or in going to give us away

I sat up a little more in my bed and realised I had his jacket on still, I took off the jacket and tried to find a place to put it

I just stood up and placed it over my desk chair, I could just lie and say it's my jacket I don't think Riles would question me

I started to get a little tired so I got in bed my thoughts were still on Lucas that moment on the log when he kissed me kept replaying in my head
