We pulled away from our tight hug and knew that this man could soothe the disaster of a mind I had. We continued to get ready before heading out into the town.
It was a really friendly town. Everyone seemed to smile as you walked past them, a few saying a cheery 'hello' as they went by. We walked slowly down the small streets, occasionally drifting into the shops that sold fairy lights or suits. I already had a suit, but I needed something new, something that would make my man proud.
We came across a small shop down a small side street. The street looked untouched. Flower beds with bright coloured flowers blooming wildly out of them lined the pavements. There was no sign of any litter or cigarette stubs anywhere. We entered one shop with a crooked wooden door with a small square window with the sign 'OPEN' in neon lights hanging precariously on the inside.
"Hello there." A short gentleman stood behind the counter by the door. "How can I help you? Wedding? Funeral? Black? Blue? I have everything you need." He said confidently. Tanner shot me a look and I smiled a little.
"Wedding please?" I said, grinning at Tanner. He smirked a little. The man quickly scuttled out from behind the counter and led us over to a rail of suits. There were many different colours.
"Are you a guest or the groom?" He asked.
"Groom," I answered.
He looked at Tanner. "And you?"
"Groom." He smiled.
"Oh. Alright." He seemed a little surprised but continued flicking through the suits. "We want you at your best and nothing less. Okay... here. He held up a blue suit jacket with a small pocket on the top left side and a pair of blue trousers to match. "How do you like that?" He asked looking at Tanner.
"Looks great! Is there anywhere I can try it on?" He asked. The man pointed to a curtain just by the side of where we were. Tanner laughed a little. "Right, I shall be back."
He walked away and went behind the curtain.
The man then picked out a black suit with a black tie for me. "I think this will be best for you." He held it up to me. "And it's a good size." He smiled.
"Oh my gosh! This is amazing. Damnnnn!" Tanner cooed from behind the curtain. The man and I both looked very confused but laughed eagerly.
"You going to show us?" I asked, smiling.
"Nope, it's a surprise." I could feel him smirking to himself.
"Alright then. Well, you aren't seeing me in mine either then!" I remarked.
"Alrighty." He replied.
After a few minutes, he walked out from behind the curtain, holding his suit and smiling to himself. "You can try yours on now. Mine fits and it is AmAzInG!" He continued to grin.
I walked behind the curtain with my suit and began to change. I loved it. For the first time in a long time, I felt confident. I stood with my head held high and I was standing tall. Wow. I finally liked what I saw in the mirror. I knew as soon as I changed back into my normal clothes that would change though.
"How is it?" The man asked.
"Great" I replied quietly. I quickly changed back into my normal clothes and walked out. Tanner smiled at me.
"I'm so excited." He said as he went onto his tiptoes with a massive grin covering his face. I smiled brightly.
"Can we buy these both please?" Tanner asked.
"Yep, follow me." He toddled over to the counter and we paid for our new suits; Tanner unable to stop smiling.
We left the shop with our suits carefully hung over our arms. Walking back to the car, I stopped and grabbed Tanners arm, pulling him close to me so our noses were almost touching.
"Tanner... you mean everything to me and I cant believe this is happening. Never in a million years did I think I would ever find someone so damn perfect as you. You are the reason I wake up every morning and I can continue my day after a set back. You are the reason I smile and laugh. You are the reason I'm learning to love life. Because even though life is bad sometimes, you keep me moving forward and help me realise that not everything is awful. You give me hope for pure happiness. I love you so much, Tanner Malmedal." I pulled him closer and kissed his lips softly.
After a few seconds, I pulled away. Tanners jaw was practically on the floor. "I dont know what to say.... I love you too, Woods.."
We embraced before continuing to walk but now our hands were tightly intertwined and we both walked with our heads high and should back.
Nothing could ever ruin this moment.
