Woods' POV
The door closed behind me and I felt good again. I had talked about everything that was on my mind and it helped dramatically. I practically skipped out. I felt like the weight of the entire universe was lifted from my shoulders and I could finally move freely.
I got into my car and drove calmly back to the office. I was a little apprehensive to see Sam and Tanner but I felt so much better.
Once I had arrived, I climbed out of my car, grabbing the cups of coffee I bought on the way back. I shut the door and was greeted by Sam. "Hey, look, sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to pry or anything, I was just worried." I smiled and placed my arm over her shoulder.
"It's okay, don't worry about it."
She looked surprised and took a few steps back, her eyes looking straight at me. "I'm guessing therapy helped." She smiled a little. I nodded brightly. I carefully handed her a cup of coffee.
"Sorry for just walking out like that earlier. We alright?" I was praying she didn't hate me for doing that. She gave me a weird look, much like I had just turned into a weird creature and back again.
"Yeah... Of course we are okay. Jeez Woods. You didn't need to do this you know." She said, lifting her coffee a little."
"I didn't want you to hate me."
"I was more worried that you would hate me and never want to talk to me again."
"No never! I know you care, I just don't like talking about it. SOrry." I said. She smiled sympathetically. But instead of me being frustrated by it, it brought comfort. I returned a smile and walked towards Tanner and I's office. "I will be back in a little while." I heard Sam hum in acknowledgement.
I knocked a little on the door and peered my head around warily. "Hey." Tanner looked up, a smile forming on his face.
"Hi, you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'm good. I brought you something." I opened the door a little more so I could now walk in the office. I raised my hand a little to show him the coffee. He smiled brightly and a blush began to form on his face.
"Thank you." He grinned. "You're so cute sometimes you know?" He said as his face grew redder.
"Says you!" I chuckled. I walked over to his desk and placed the coffee by the side of his computer. Tanner began to stand up. I moved a little to get out of his way. He walked closer to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I placed my hands on his hips and we came in close.
"All I want is for you to be okay. I love you so much Woods, and I never, ever, want to lose you. You mean so much to me and I can not live my life without you. When you were staying at Pauls, I was completely lost. People asked how I felt and I lied. I said I was alright. I guess you know how that feels better than anyone. But I didn't realise how difficult it was to do it, yet it was so easy because I had to do it to protect them and myself from my actual feelings. It made me realise a tiny fraction of what you were going through. I could barely cope with that, so I have no idea how you manage with all of the shit that you have to deal with. It actually knocked some sense into me. I want to help you." He said with a concerned smile.
He grabbed my hand and reached into his drawer, he pulled out a small black box and began to lower himself. He was now on one knee. My insides were screaming at me. WTF. WTF. WTF. Oh my god! Is he? OH MY GOOOOD!!
"I want to share the rest of my life with you. Nobody has ever made me feel the way you do. The fuzzy feeling in my chest, the crazy chaotic smile that flickers on my face when I see you, the way my heart beats when I hear your name. I can't live without you. And I am willing to spend the rest of my life helping you be happy because you are the most important thing in my life. Nothing could ever be better than you. Woodland Demars, Will you marry me?" He smiled, I could see mass amounts of worry in his eyes but covered in joy.
A massive smile covered my face. The door slowly opened.
"OH MY GOD!!!!" A high pitched voice screeched.
A more distant voice began to speak. "What?! What's happened?"
"COME HERE NOW!"
Tanner and I looked over a little confused. It seemed like everybody from the office had teleported in seconds to our door. A hushed muttering filled the room.
I looked back towards Tanner who turned his head back to me. "So?"
"YES!" I said. He lept up and grabbed me, taking me into his arms. He squealed loudly in my ear. "I said yes, not make me deaf." I laughed. He put me down and slowly slid the ring on my finger. A roar of excitement filled the room. Whistles and wails bouncing from wall to wall.
"PARTAYYYYY" I heard someone yell over the cheers.
Tanner handed me another box. I opened it seeing another ring. My name was engraved into it. He gave me his hand and I placed the ring onto his finger. He picked me up again and carried me bridal style through the crowd of people. "We are all going to the pub after work, no arguments!" Tanner announced. Another round of cheering began but soon settled once again.
I looked around to see Matt, Connor, Paul, Sam, CJ and loads of other faces grinning excitedly towards Tanner and I. Tanner placed me onto the edge of the table and sat down next to me. Matt walked over to us. "Congrats guys. I'm so happy for you both. You both picked well." He smirked and winked at us. I grinned and grabbed Tanner's hand.
"Oh, I know." I confirmed. Everyone laughed. People began to come over to us, giving us their congratulations.
Paul walked over and grabbed my hand to look at the ring. "Looks fake to me." He joked. More laughing ruptured and more jokes followed.
Once the excitement had calmed a little, Tanner leant over and whispered in my ear. "I love you." Then sat back as though nothing happened.
"I love you too." I grinned, placing a small kiss on his lips.
"GET A ROOM!" Matt shouted and laughed.
"Oh we will..." Tanner winked at Matt. More laughter ensued.
I was the happiest I had been for years and I felt so unstoppable. "You're amazing." I said to Tanner as I placed my head gently on his shoulder, watching everyone talking and laughing amongst themselves.
Best. Day. Ever.
