The King Who Said No

In a land filled with children

In a kingdom long ago

There ruled a wicked King

Whose favourite word was, 'No'

No matter what was asked of him

No matter what was needed

Everything the children asked

Always went unheeded

Until one day something changed

His daughter took a stand

She sent out a special message

To all the children in the land

Princess Dolly wrote a note

That no one else could see

She placed it in a special box

And told where it would be

Each day more notes were added

By other children to the palace

Until at last the box was full

And given to Her Highness

On the day the box was opened

And Dolly's note was read aloud

The few words she had written

Made everybody proud

Her Highness went before the King

The children had all spoken

They all agreed with Dolly's note

The King's rule had been broken
