Winter Blows
window pane
cataracted with frost
scatters light
obscuring the river
a black silk scarf
winding among tiny islands
dotting the channel
gray- white slush
delineates the banks
grasping at dead leaves
fallen from naked trees
quivering in the wind
shivering in the cold
under the dim december sun
winter blows
a crystal-shattering shriek
twilight shadows drift
briefly across the vastness of time
like ravensflight fleeting
mirrored
on the snow below
memory
piercing starkly
winter blows
