Cymru

Up in the valley there lived a girl

Who every morning walked downhill

She drank from the river with cuppéd hands

And always said thank you for such a deep fill-

The grass was green thread

and her eyes were blue

Brotherland, Cymru,

Dwi'n caru ti true

The land spirits whispered

In her elven ear

And warned her of the East-

They drew near.

In the distance, men fought

With valiant swords

The true crownéd army

Of Owain Glyndwr

So shaken the land,

Even giants felled

Their blood ran deep

And the river swelled

So when you drink, children

Remember this true

Your father's courage

Runs into you.

Brotherland, Cymru,

Dwi'n caru ti true.

A/N -- this poem is about Wales; Cymru is the Welsh word for Wales and "dwi'n caru ti" means

"I love you".
