in his eyes, I see my world
battle laden, he's battle-scarred
his irises scatter like pieces of glass
shattered, broken is his heart
in his eyes, I see my world
heavy with liquid, he blinks them away
his cornea's as white as a baby's own
innocent, afraid to be hurt once more
in his eyes, I see my world
dark as an umbra, he holds no hope
his pupil's as bleak as a shadow
jaded, he's cold like a statue
in his eyes, I see my world
barren, yet something grows
his lashes flutter, and I see gold
my world fill with rays of hope
