Chapter 48: Plan of Attack

"I don't believe the security system would switch into high alert mode just because they found something explosive." Melissa thought aloud.

"Iida, let's go to where the party's being held." Izuku said suddenly.

"Why?"

"Because All Might's at the party."

"Oh he is? Then there's nothing to worry about." Mineta shrugged.

"Melissa, how do we get there?" (Y/n) asked, unlinking her arm from Shoto's.

"If we use the emergency stairs I think we can get close to the party." she thought for a moment.

(Y/n) clapped a hand over her mouth to keep herself from gasping too loudly. They were all up above the where the party was happening and observed the shocking scene below.

The party had been taken over by a dozen armed men, and the leader was a man with blood red hair and a silver mask. The pros were restrained by blue capture weapons and all on the ground. The guests were all cowering in fear, watching the armed men meekly.

Izuku got All Might's attention with his phone. Jirou listened to All Might, trying to figure out what went wrong and how they could help without being noticed.

Meanwhile, (Y/n) backed away to the wall, her hands shaking and her body trembling. She saw flashes of memory, but fought against them.

If I have a panic attack now, we'll be discovered!

She was hyperventilating now, trying to keep calm by taking deep breaths. It didn't help much, and her eyes were glued to the scene below. She felt bile rise up in her throat, but she fought it back down with a grimace.

"(Y/n)? (Y/n) what's wrong?" Shoto said in a low voice.

"I-I don't- I'm sorry- no I can't- it's my fault-"

She gasped for air and she curled up in a ball.

The scene was so familiar...

"Everybody get down!"

"Nobody move!"

(Y/n) was back in the building, where everyone's screams rippled through the room. The scent of gunpowder hit her, and she gasped. The armed men rounded up everyone to the center of the room.

(Y/n) turned to run, but was met by the muzzle of a gun and she froze.

"Where do you think you're going?"

She looked up and met the eyes of the man holding the gun.

His eyes were a bright crimson.

(Y/n) opened her mouth to scream.

A hand clamped down over her mouth, and she fought to free herself, hot tears streaming down her face.

"(Y/n)!" Shoto hissed. "Please stop!"

She blinked away the tears and saw she was back on I-Island, back above the party, and back to the present. Shoto had his arms around her and his hand over her mouth.

"You're okay. You're fine. Match my breathing." he said in a low, soothing voice. (Y/n) strained to focus on his breathing, and found it, slow and steady. She took in a few gasps of air, then exhaled them steadily.

"Good. Do it again."

She inhaled slowly and exhaled again. After a few minutes, she felt her heart rate go back to normal.

Shoto took his hand off her mouth cautiously and stood up. He held out a hand to help her up and led her back to the group in the emergency stairwell.

Everyone was watching her tensely to see what she would do.

"I'm so sorry." she whispered, hugging her sides.

"I should be apologizing. I had to cover your mouth or you would alert the men down below." Shoto explained. "The glass seemed too thin to muffle the sound, and I didn't want to take any chances. I hope I didn't hurt you."

"I understand."

"(Y/n), I think you should stay in the emergency stairway. You might have another panic attack." Izuku said worriedly.

"I can continue on. I promise, I'll be fine." (Y/n) replied.

"(Y/n), might I advise-"

"No, Iida, you may not. I am coming with you guys and that is final."

Everyone exchanged glances with one another.

"Stay in the middle of the group."

(Y/n) nodded and moved to her place with Shoto beside her.

"We have received All Might's message." Iida declared. "I suggest we follow the directions of All Might and escape this place."

"I agree with Iida's opinion." Momo said. "We are still students. We cannot fight against villains without our hero licences."

"Then what if we escape and tell the heroes outside-" Kaminari began.

"I think it'll be hard to escape."Melissa interrupted. "This place is built with the same level of security as Tartarus, where villains are kept."

"Then all we can do is wait until help comes."

"Kaminari, are you okay with this?" Jirou asked, standing up over the crouching blond.

"What do you mean?"

"You don't think you should go help?"

"Hey, hey, the villains even caught All Might. There's no way we can go save them ourselves!" Mineta cried.

"We are trying to become heroes." Shoto murmured, staring down at his left hand. (Y/n) smiled and intertwined her hand in it.

"Yes but we are still not allowed to work as heroes-" Momo started.

"Does that mean it's all right for us to not do anything?" he continued. Everyone sat in an uncomfortable silence, faced with the two varying choices.

"I want to save them." Izuku said finally.

"Izuku?"

"Deku?"

He looked up at the group, a determined look etched onto his face.

"I want to go save them."

"You're planning on fighting the villains?" Mineta exclaimed. "Didn't you learn anything from USJ, Midoriya?"

"It's not like that Mineta." Izuku defended himself. "I thought about it."

"We need a way we can save All Might and the others without fighting the villains."

"I understand how you feel, but is there anything that convenient?" Denki asked.

"Even if it's hard, I still want to try!"

(Y/n) smiled at his determination.

"I want to look for the best way possible and save everyone!"

"I-Island's security is at the top of this tower." Melissa said. "If the villains have taken control of the system, then the authentication locks and passwords must be disabled. We should be able to restart the system. We just need to get away from the eyes of the villains and get to the top floor. Then maybe we can save everyone."

"What do you mean "get away from the eyes of the villains"? How?" Jirou asked.

"Currently, none of us have actually been harmed. I think the villains aren't used to working with this security system." Melissa explained.

Everyone talked back and forth, deciding what to do. Once they all agreed on the plan, they set off.

We can do this, (Y/n) thought to herself. I know we can!
