Five minutes and not a second to lose! I chanted in a panic while I rummaged through my closet.
He's here! I can't believe he's here in America! What is he doing here?
This wasn't the way it was supposed to happen.
We've talked about it on and off for years. We planned how we would meet in a place we always wanted to visit, plus all the restaurants we would dine at and attractions we wanted to see. We would take endless photos and find the closest beach to rumble in the sand and allow the atmosphere to aid us in forgetting everything and enjoy the moment.
Not show up unexpected at my house while I'm in a robe and bunny slippers, hair soaked with no make up...oh gosh! I have to put on make up!
This is a nightmare! No...a really, really vivid dream!
After what felt like a millennia, I finally found something suitable that was comfortable and presentable. I threw it on in a hurry and dried my hair enough to fall in one of the effortless styles before applying a light foundation for a more natural look. With one final glance in the mirror, a mild satisfaction brazed my features only because I was more nervous than anything.
With a slow pace, I eased back to my door. I'm just a few seconds over the five minute mark but I'm hoping he didn't disappear after my little dramatic move.
I inhaled a deep, really deep breath and opened the door with a nervous grin only for my heart to drop significant beats from the smile that met me behind it.
This can't be real.
"S-Sorry. Would you guys like to come in and..."
My words were interrupted due to a heavy warmth that consumed me, holding me tight against it. I even felt a breath against my skin that sent a slow shiver through me, leaving me numb to react.
"I'm so happy to see you." His deep whisper reverb the space around us.
It was only right to reciprocate even if I couldn't believe it was happening. I wrapped my arms around him as well, smiling at the friendly gesture. "I'm happy to see you too."
We pulled away from each other. Taehyung grinned like a kid holding a shiny toy before he stepped across the threshold. His quiet friend followed behind him.
I closed the door in a soft manner and released another breath, noticing the woody yet citrus scent that trailed behind him. I gasped, maybe even blushed a little from it.
"Nice place Kye."
Like a magnetic pull, his voice called my gaze over to them and I nodded with a polite smile. He stood in the middle of the sitting area with his hands in the pockets of his caramel colored overcoat, eyes scanning my little hub before they landed to me.
"T-Thank you. Umm...please have a seat. Can I get you and..." I peered over to his friend, waiting to be introduced.
"Oh uh...this is my..." Taehyung looked over to his associate with uncertainty it seemed before answering. "...friend Min Yoongi. He's already heard a lot about you Kye." Taehyung .
"Nice to meet you Yoongi. Is there anything I can get for you two?" I offered.
The gentlemen took a seat. Yoongi sat in the armchair while Taehyung chose the sofa. "No thank you. I don't want to invade our time too long." He tapped on the empty spot next to him, gesturing for me to sit.
Suddenly, my heartbeat reminded me of how nervous I was. I should be waking from this dream any moment now.
His eyes never left mine as I made my way over and sat next to him. We continued staring until I found myself in his embrace once more.
Okay...he's a hugger. Didn't expect that.
"I just can't believe I found you." He spoke before pulling away, eyes wandering me.
"I'm very happy you did but I have to admit, I'm very surprised that you are here. Especially when I've written you twice and I didn't hear back from you. Is everything okay?" I'm sure he heard the worry in my tone as his gaze shifted to a much softer one.
"Y-Yeah. I was just...traveling a lot and I didn't have time to answer but it's fine, right? You have me here!" He recovered with a gleaming smile.
"Yeah...I...I guess I do. Just, after so many years of writing to each other it's a little surreal to see you here, sitting next to me."
"Tell me about it." His voice edged a whisper before he gulped.
A sheepish chuckle escaped me but didn't he seem fazed by it, though it jarred me.
My own laugh made me nervous.
He's also a bit intimidating. I noted. "So uh...you and Yoongi visiting the states? How was your flight from the other side of the world?" I needed a subject change.
"Yeah we uh..." He peered over to Yoongi who quirked his brow, curious it seemed. "...kind of just passing through. I'm stopping in before I head to my true destination." Taehyung explained.
"Ah! Another trip! You get to go all the fun places!" I grinned, excited on another adventure of his he pursued. "So where are you off to this time?"
Taehyung began to rubbed his slender hands against the thighs of his pants in a repeated motion. If I didn't know any better, he now seemed nervous.
"Well, we are headed to Hawaii." He smiled.
My eyes widened. "Wow! Now I'm really jealous." I pouted in a playful notion before it formed a tiny smile. "I remember you mentioned it in a letter. It was your place to visit."
Taehyung placed his hand on my knee. "Now, it will be our place to visit. Pack your bags because we're going to Hawaii."
Did I hear that right? "Wait, what? We?"
A soft chuckle hummed from Taehyung. "Yes! I came here to get you so we could go together! Did you really think that I would come to America and not take you with me?"
I stood up in awe of this heart pounding, yet thrilling information. "I-I don't know what to say other than..." I glanced over seeing the gleam in Taehyung's eyes. How could I even turn him down with that look? I shook my head in disbelief but his words remain to echo around me.
A trip to Hawaii?
"What about my job? I can't just take off. I have to plan my programs and makes schedules for my back up." It could have sounded like an excuse but it wasn't. I really wanted to go but it was very sudden.
Taehyung stood up to face me and rested his hands on my arms with a look of confidence. "Don't worry about your job. I took care of it." He winked.
Another thought struck me as I glanced at Yoongi before my gaze fell back on Taehyung.
"It was you who was in my boss's office? How did you..."
"I'm pretty persuasive." Taehyung charmed.
"Oh, so I've read..." I smirked. "Seriously Taehyung I..."
Taehyung shook his head to shush me. "No more excuses. You are clear for the week so go on and pack because we leave tonight."
