I took a glance in the mirror.
Feeling the heat rushing in my cheeks, I lowered my head and gasped quietly, hoping my outfit was suitable for dinner and dancing. I'm ever grateful I was able to use my wardrobe from my last vacation for this unexpected trip, though I think I may have lost a little weight since then.
This dress has never fit me better.
Maybe this will help my confidence but must I really succumb to dancing? Is dinner not enough?
I wish he would have surprised me with that information so I wouldn't have to fight the pressure alongside the nerves that's clinging to it. I'm a horrible dancer.
I'm starting to believe that this is some sort of conquest of his to get me to relieve my fears. He's such a dork but a caring one. Eh, he's a little fun too.
"Kye, are you ready?"
The deep voice startled me and I took a final look at the emerald green, slim fitting, maxi dress that I chose for the evening. Taking a deep breath and quiet strides, I opened my bedroom door. My lips parted in awe.
At first sight, his smile held me captive until I found the courage to break away and admire his complete being.
His dark, curly tresses fringed his forehead, a minor detail compared to his smile. The caramel tone of his skin complimented against the white clothing he adorned. His long sleeves were rolled and shirt was opened to view the crisp cream colored t-shirt beneath it. His pants were long, too long. He appeared to have rolled them but it didn't make a difference.
I've noticed his clothes are usually baggy but it fits him, as if it's part of his persona.
Our gazes met and I watched him gulped, making my cheeks burn more as I could only assume to what he was thinking.
"K-Kye, you look..." He stared instead of finishing his statement. I decided to tease him to break the mild awkwardness I was starting to feel.
Maybe embarrassment even.
"If you even think about making a crack about me being in a dress, I will..."
Taehyung shook his head. "No no no, you look great! Really." He replied.
I grinned at his furrowed eyes brows underneath his fringe. His eyes wide with puckered, pouty lips.
Did I worry him with my tease?
I have to admit I found that a little cute. "Thank you and so do you."
Taehyung's features relaxed as he held out his hand. "Come with me." He spoke, soft and profound.
My heart sped the minute my hand touched his but the moment he smiled at me, it slowed.
That's some effect he seems to have on me.
We arrived at this beautiful restaurant that sat inches away from the beach. The ocean waves swaying against the wind was a symphony to my ears. To makes this even more perfect, sunset was soon approaching.
The crowd was steady but created a minimal noise and appearance as I was too enthralled by the atmosphere. Three days in and now it's really sinking in that I'm on vacation. Suddenly, a short air of sadness hit me when I realize that I only have four more days in this paradise.
A warm hand brushing against my side startled me into a gaze of the one it belonged to. He smiled at me, kind as always and gestured me toward our table. I was so captured by the view of the ocean, I didn't even notice him talking to the hostess, let alone her leading us to our table.
Taehyung smiled at me as he held out my chair. I brushed the strand of curl behind my ear with a small nod and took a seat. His chivalry isn't surprising. The moment I sat down, my stare drifted back to the ocean.
"Hey..." Taehyung called.
I turned quickly to him, catching his smile. "Yes?"
"What do you think?" He wondered.
My gaze darted back to the skies where the sunset was beginning to descend. I couldn't tear away from it's allure. The dusky, golden sky with lavender traces ribboned with it gave me the warmest feeling and I wanted to hold onto it as much as time allowed.
Out of my peripheral, Taehyung watched me. Giving that same admiring look as before made me curious to his thoughts. He was probably just waiting to tease me.
"This is why I brought you here." He spoke. "I knew you would love the view."
My gaze fluttered a bit on his theory as I turned back to him. "You knew? How? Because I seem to be crazy for sunsets?"
Taehyung cleared his throat before lifting the wine menu in his grasp. His face buried in it as if hiding. "I read it was one of best here." He muffled.
I dismissed the oddness and basked on the final moments of the sunset until it slept peacefully in the ocean.
Picking up my menu, I took a quick glance around as the atmosphere was finally starting to trickle back into my focus. Music soon caught my ears but it wasn't quite what I was expecting to hear. Soft piano sounds bellowed into the evening air followed by the dulcet, jazz tones of the saxophone accompanying it. Laughter soon fell into mix as I watched twosomes holding conversations with caring eyes tender touches. I glanced more on their gestures.
I quietly gasped.
Looking back onto the ocean, silhouettes of couples were holding hands as the waves crashed along the shore. The stretch of beach was decorated with a small bout of warm bodies making footprints in the sands.
So many views to highlight the mood of the ambiance surrounding us. My chest suddenly felt heavy as I tried to breathe. I now buried my face into the menu.
My brother's words were starting to come back to me but I shook my head to dismiss them. Who uses the term woo anyway. It's just as ancient has he was.
The meaning certainly carried the same.
Was not supposed to recognize the romanticism or am I just being silly as always?
"What do you prefer Kye?"
Taehyung lowered the wine menu. His sharp, hickory eyes were in view until I noticed the sparkle from the small hoop in his ear. I didn't even realize he had piercings unless this was the first time he's worn them during our time together.
It looked nice on him, even nicer tonight with his outfit. I found myself blushing at this and he caught it.
"What?" He grinned.
I shook my head, smiling while trying to think of something teasing to say but the only thing that would come to mind wasn't along the lines of what I wanted. Oddly enough, it fit the entire aura of our evening and I would be oblivious to think otherwise. Besides, he deserved to hear the truth.
"Nothing." I grinned. "I'm just enjoying the view."
