043: The Sun Also Rises

Bonnie, Monique, and Jeremy are down in the basement, flipping through the pages of some old grimoires they got from the Martin residence. Baby John is with Elijah, he had promised Blake he would watch him and strange enough,Blake trusts Elijah with her son.

"This is useless," Jeremy comments. "All these grimoires. There has to be something in here to keep Elena from becoming a vampire."

"And we'll keep looking," Monique says to Jeremy, she and him have become what Aiden and Blake are, best friends. "Until the last minute.... Blake would."

Elijah, Alaric, amd Stefan are walking across the yard outside, Elijah is carrying baby John Gilbert.

"The sacrifice in stages as the full moon sets," Elijah explains to the two as John grins up at Elijah. "First the werewolf is killed, then the vampire. Finally, the doppelgänger. Once Elena dies, the curse will be broken. Klaus will become a hybrid." At the sound of Klaus's name, John let's out a whimper. "I know, buddy, Klaus is the bad guy but don't you worry John, you and your mommy will be safe."

"So, when do we attack?" Alaric asks.

"Elena's death will activate the dormant werewolf side," Elijah tells them. "He'll be vulnerable during his transformation. That's when Bonnie and Monique come in."

"And you're sure Bonnie and Monique's unborn baby will survive this?" Stefan asks, Monique is strong enough to survive herself - but she wants her child to survive, too.

"If they can deliver him to the brink of death, I'll finish the job myself," Elijah replies and John smiles. "Sounds good, don't it, John, huh?" The baby coos and grins, Elijah grins right back.

Stefan's phone rings, and he walks away to answer it. Aiden is calling; Stefan knows that Damon's at the Grill with Blake, keeping her updated as either Damon or Stefan text him, Elijah will call and update Blake on how John's doing... When they head to the quarry, they're going to leave the baby with Jeremy here at the witch house, Jeremy agreed to watch him and keep him safe here.

Alaric notices Stefan looks back with a worried expression. "What? What is it?"

Jeremy looks through another grimoire. Monique is on the other side of baby John.

Bonnie looks over Jeremy's shoulder, "which one are you reading?"

"Emily Bennett's," Jeremy replies, "there's a section on spells she did for my ancestor, Jonathan Gilbert."

"Yeah, I think she had a thing for him," Bonnie says; Jeremy looks up at her, and she smiles at him.

"There's something on a resuscitation spell she was working on," jere,y points out.

"I saw that, too," Bonnie replies. "She just didn't explain what it did, exactly."

"Well, maybe wrote about it in his journals," Jeremy suggests. "You know, I can have Stefan bring them."

The door to the basement creeks open. 

"Someone's here," Monique whispers.

Alaric comes down, and the Whitmore witch relaxes when she sees him. 

"Hey, What are you doing here?" Jeremy asks.

"Elijah and Stefan are upstairs, Elijah has the baby," Alaric says, and he looks at the witches. "You guys mind if I have a second with Jeremy?"

Bonnie and Monique both agree and they go upstairs.

"What's the matter?" Jeremy asks once he and Ric are alone.
