Just after Ben turned, everyone did not quite trust him. They always spoke badly of him to his face, but Ben was used to it and it did not bother him too much. So long as Rey believed in him. One time, they spoke badly of him in front of Rey. She went bright red and shoved the person face-down in the mud without a second thought. No-one ever spoke badly of Ben to Rey's face again.
