Reylo headcanons and oneshots

Oneshot #4

Happy valentines day! Just for the dake of this story, Leia is alive and so is Luke.

Rey's POV

The sun was just coming up when I awoke. I looked outside and saw a pale blue sky streaked with red and pink. The sight was breathtaking. It was enough to make anyone feel loved.

 But not me. Because in the middle of lunch yesterday, Ben had announced that he urgently had to go somewhere and left. He has done this before, and I hadn't minded too much, but today was different. Because today was Valentine's day, and Ben Solo was MIA.

This hurt me more than I care to admit. I was looking forward to spending today with him. It was announced that everyone had the day off, so neither of us would have to work. I had decided I was going to surprise him with a romantic picnic. Like that was going to happen now.

But why had he so suddenly up and left yesterday? Everyone was chatting about their plans for today, when he went pale and muttered something about needing to go somewhere.

Pushing my emotions aside, I began to get ready for work. Too late, I remembered everything was closed today. Great. The one day I need a distraction, it had to be the day work is cancelled. Maybe I can go ask if Leia needs anything. She will probably be spending the day with Luke. I feel a wave of guilt wash over me. Han is dead, so Leia needs her brother more than ever today.

Walking towards command centre, I am ambushed by the amount of couples and flowers everywhere. Unexpectedly, my eyes start burning as though they are on fire. Don't cry, don't cry.

I manage to hold it together until I reach command centre. As soon as the doors close behind me, I allow the tears to fall. They are tears of isolation and of abandonment. On the one day a year meant for couples, my boyfriend has abandonded me.

I look up when someone places a hand on my shoulder. Through the tears, I see a very concerned Leia. 

'What's he done now?' She asks me, sighing. 'I swear to all the Gods, if he has ended things with you...' 

I shake my head adamantly. If that happened, I would not be able to move, let alone cry. I would be too shocked. 'No... he... left yesterday...' I manage to get out. 

'And he's still not back?' Leia guessed, shaking her head. 'Oh Rey.' She sighed, putting her arms around me. 

I resisted at first, but then I gave up. I collapsed in her arms, the sobs tearing themselves from my throat. She gently smoothed back my hair, tightening her arms around me. 

'I cannot believe that idiot son of mine! What does he think he is doing, abandoning you on Valentine's day! When he comes back, he is going to get his ass kicked so bad!' I laughed, despite the situation and the tears still making their way down my face.

Just then, the alarm went off saying that a ship had just landed. Leia and I looked at each other, before racing outside.

 As the ramp was lowered, I caught sight of a tall, black haired man staring right at me. Running forward, I hugged Ben Solo for all I was worth. His arms encircled me in turn, but not for long. After a few seconds, I pulled away and lifted a hand. 

Forcing him into the air, he hung there, gazing in bewilderment at me. 'Ben Solo! How dare you run off and not get your ass here on time for Valentine's day! What were you thinking!' I yell at him, ignoring the crowd that has gathered. 'Seriously, where did you go?' I add, softening my voice.

 He takes a deep breathe before answering me. 'I was at lunch with you, and I realised I didn't get you anything for today. So in a moment of inspiration, I went to go find something.'

I gently set him down, and he opens his hand. In his palm, is a necklace. It is made of a thin silver chain, with a single charm. The charm is made up of a small rock, carved in the shape of a heart. But it is the rock itself that transfixes my gaze. It is plain black, but shimmers blue and red when it catches the light. 

'Oh Ben.' I gasp in amazement. 'It's beautiful! Thank you!' 

Ben relaxes, obviously relieved I like it. I remembered seeing these rocks when I was looking for you. They remeinded me of you and me. The light and the dark, in perfect balance.'

There is an audible 'awwww' as the crowd hears him say this, and I see the tips of his ears go pink. 

Stepping forwards, I hug him again, turning my face upwards to kiss him.

 As our lips meet, I hear Leia say something along the lines of 'I was going to kick his ass for standing her up, but that is the sweetest thing ever!' And Luke agreeing with her.

 Laughing, I pull away from Ben and take the necklace from his hand. I put it on instantly, and gasp in delight when it catches the light once more. 

'I love you.' Ben whispers, so only I can hear. 

'I love you too.' I whisper back, before our lips meet again.
