Oneshot #8

So here I am with an update! The song for this one is Someone Else in the Dark by Sophie Michelle. This is set before RoS.

Rey's POV

It is an ordinary morning at Base, with everyone busy with work. They all think it is just a normal day. But I know differently. Because today is the day that I finally tell my best friends about Kylo Ren. And the small fact that we can talk through the Force. but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I spot Finn and Poe over by the Falcon, and change direction, heading towards them. Poe lifts a hand to wave at me. Both of them are smiling, but frown when they see the expression on my face.

'Hey. What's up?' Finn asks me, looking concerned. I smile at them, but it doesn't do anything to stop them worrying. 

'I need to talk to you. Can we go somewhere a bit more private?' I pretend not to notice them eyeballing each other and shrugging, before following me to a small clearing in some nearby trees.

They sit down on a log, and look expectantly at me. I take a deep breath before talking. 'Before I tell you what is going on, you have to promise me you won't tell anyone else, or freak out, or get mad, or overreact.' 

They look confused, but both of them nod. 

'Okay. Ummm... So something happened when I went to go see Luke. Basically, I found out I can communicate with Be- I mean Kylo Ren.' Finn and Poe are both looking at me like I'm crazy. 

Then finally Poe breaks the awkward silence. 'What. The flying f*ck. Did you just say.' He says, looking as though he is about to explode. 

'I said I can communicate with Kylo Ren.' I say calmly, trying to prepare myself for the argument I am about to get myself in to.

'DO YOU REALISE WHAT THAT MEANS? HE COULD HAVE BEEN SPYING ON US WHEN WE HAVE MEETINGS?! HE COULD BE ON HIS WAY HERE NOW!' Poe yells. I am surprised the whole Resistance didn't hear him. 

'Poe, you promised you wouldn't overreact. It's not as bad as it sounds, trust me. For one, he can't see my surroundings. Only me. And I know he hasn't been there in meetings, because I can tell when he is there. We don't decide when we talk. It's a Force thing.' Finn has remained silent throughout, but now he speaks. 

'Rey, you do know what this means. I do trust you, but really? Why would you talk to him? Ignore him if he shows up! I thought you were clever. I won't tell anyone, but seriously?' He stands up shaking his head. 

'What? Do you know how hard it was for me to tell you? You are two of the people I trust most in the world. You're my best friends.' I say quietly, tears fogging my vision. 

'See you around, Rey.' Poe says, walking off, with Finn behind him. 

'What?! No, guys, please..' But it's no use. I sink to my knees, sobbing. I lost them. They were the reason I kept fighting, and I lost them.

Just then I feel a familiar presence behind me. Oh great. Just what I need. 

'Go away.' I say loudly, not moving. 'Rey?' Ben asks me, placing a hand on my shoulder. 

'Are you okay?' 

Then I snap. 'Do I look like I'm okay? I just lost my best friends, because of you. Now you better have deserted the Order by now, or so help me, I will kill you.' 

Ben looks confused and hurt, but I am so broken I don't care. 'Why is it because of me?' He asks softly. 

'Because I tried to tell them about us talking and they just abandoned me. And for the past year you have been saying you will come, you will come, but do you? No! So I have to struggle through life, praying you will come tomorrow. But you never do.'
