Headcanon #14

Ben's biggest fear is being rejected. After years of being told he is not good enough, he is weak, he has, like, ZERO self-esteem. Most nights he'll get nightmares about the Emperor telling him he is useless. They both get nightmares, but help each other deal with it. Rey is normally the one who calms him down after a really bad one. She is always there. Then one time Rey gets chosen for a mission and Ben doesn't. While she is gone, he starts getting flashbacks. People made fun of him the few times it happened in public, where Ben will just  break down completely. He could just hear everyone taunting him. It sent him into a state of depression so bad he didn't leave his hut for the whole time Rey was gone. When she got back, she was furious! Woe betide anyone who was in the vicinity when she found out what had happened! People kept making excuses, but she was not taking crap from anyone. Needless to say, everyone got a good ass-kicking that day.
