When Ben realised he wants to propose to Rey, he starts planning immediately. Everything has to be perfect. When looking for a ring, Ben see one with a plain gold band and a small stone. The stone is inky black, but shimmers with silver in the light. It reminds of the stars he spends hours looking at with Rey. He knows straight away this is the one.
When Ben does propose, he tells Rey' she was his light in the dark.' When Rey goes silent, battling tears, he then goes on to ruin it by rambling on about how he understands if she doesn't want to, and how it was just a thought, when Rey shuts him up with a kiss. 'Yes, you idiot!' She laughs, hugging him. It is the best day of both their lives.
