By following the black cladded figure, I'd found myself in a pitch-black alley.

The air was chilly, wind beating rapidly. The street lights flickered on and off, creating an inconsistent light source. I was starting to wish that I had rugged up and brought a flashlight. While fumbling around, my fingers felt the roughness of the brick wall. It came to a stop when I discovered something that resembled a dumpster. I fitted my thin body behind it, hoping I wouldn't be found. By being in this position, the air couldn't bite at me. I closed my eyes and really wondered while I was here.

I've known Nico for my whole life, him being my only brother, but recently he'd been acting strange. He'd never worn dark clothing or stepped foot outside when it was night. Nowadays, he barely came to school or home and when he did, bruises and cuts decorated his body. That was why I was here. I wanted to figure out what had changed with Nico. I needed to help my brother.

Just as a sigh escaped my lips, noises were heard. A shuffle of feet, muffled voices and fists connecting with skin. My teeth clenched onto my bottom lip, drawing blood. What was going on out there? Was it a full-on fight? I was starting to wish that I could see what was going on. Well... someone flicked on a flashlight. The click wasn't just heard by me but the others also. I shimmied closer to edge of the dumpster, hoping to take a peek of what was happening.

A scream died in my throat. Nico was standing up, blood dripping down his face from a wound on his head. A grave look was plastered on his face, worry filled his dark eyes. His gaze was glued to the dumpster. I squinted my eyes, due to the flashlight, before slowly looking at the top of the dumpster. Nothing was there. I was confused. For starters, I'd never seen Nico don that expression. Secondly, what was he worried about? Nico brought his gaze down to me and run was what I heard.

Suddenly, a roar erupted the silence. I bolted over to Nico, scrapping my knees along the rough concrete in the process. Blood flowed heavily from the wounds.

Bianca...

I looked around.

Bianca, run!

Who was speaking in my mind? I looked at Nico only to see him glaring at me. Was it him speaking in my mind or I was I hallucinating due to the loss of blood and the lack of sleep?

Bianca get out of here!

I scrambled to feet. At least I thought I did, Instead, I was flung backwards by an invisible force. My body slammed into the wall with a crunch. Searing pain shot up my right leg. My spine tingled, burning as the pain ran up and down it. My vision was blurry, causing everything to be seen as silhouettes. My ears rang, the noise high pitched. I tried to move my body but the pain was so unbearable that it was impossible for me to even twitch a finger.

What was going on? Questions ran through my mind. Was I going to die? What about Nico? In my eye sight, figures darted back and forth, fighting. As this was occurring, my eyelids began fluttering close. I tried to keep them open.

Bianca, stay with me.

The voice was getting softer and distant.

Bianca, I need you. Please stay with me!

My body began to shut down. I tried to fight it but in the end, I let my body have control.

Bianca, no!
