As all good stories are, they started with a Once Upon a Time. It wouldn’t be right if it was done any differently since you could say that it was another version of Cinderella. So, let us begin this story.
Once upon a time in a rundown, countryside mansion, there was a kind lady who married a superior gentleman. Both had children from preceding marriages. The lady had Rachel and Annabeth, kind sisters who were selfless, and the gentleman had Piper, a spoiled and slothful brat wo was known for getting everything she wanted. And because of this, Piper’s family was endured to do all the housework despite the fact that they had the money to hire maids. Every morning they came upstirs from the filthy basement and cleaned and fixed Piper’s messes. Then they would return to the basement. They did everything as ordered for their atrociousness of Cinderella.
However, one day, letters came in the mail. They were addressed to the three girls and stamped shut with the royal seal. It was an invitation to Prince Jason’s masquerade ball. The ball was to be held at the palace, so the Prince could pick his Princess. Piper, who was not particularly fond of dressing up for the mere entertainment of the Prince, decided she was to not go.
Therefore, off went her family, Annabeth and Rachel in the most simplistic formal attire out there. They drove off in their beetle, waving to Piper and promising to be back at one o’clock. Piper sat on the porch, regretting her decision as tears rolled down her light brown cheeks. Here, Piper had messed up her and her family’s entire life all because she was selfish. The gown she had picked out had been much more elegant that that of her step-sisters who had spent most of their life being kind to their youngest sibling. Her eyes dropped to her lap as the tears continued to flow.
But her pain didn’t last long when she heard the honk of a car. She looked up slowly, her eyes focused on the beautiful woman who stepped out of the limousine. The woman walked with grace over to the teary Piper.
“Don’t shed tears, darling,” she said. “I am here as your saviour.”
Piper stood up shakily. “I do not need saving,” she replied with anger. “I am a hideous person. I sent my family away to the palace and all they wore were ugliness. My spoiled self is to blame.”
She continued to sob as the brown-curled woman handed Piper a bag, ordering her to go and try them on. Piper did as she was told as she was too afraid to upset the woman. The girl found herself wearing a shimmering white dress with a glittery silver belt around her waist. Her shoes were a pair of silver high heels. Piper’s eyelids were covered in shimmer powder and her lips were coated in a shiny, light pink colour. Piper’s choppy brown hair was tied in a low bun, a white feather sitting in the knotting.
The beautiful woman handed Piper a silver butterfly shaped mask. Piper placed it around her eyes just as another car horn rang. Her body turned towards the limo in the driveway. Piper thanked the woman before she climbed into the limo which headed off into the direction of the palace.
When Piper had arrived, everybody stopped to look at the mysteriously beautiful, white-dressed maiden. Piper walked gracefully around the ballroom as she heard people whisper things like ‘wow’ and ‘dazzling’. She went down a set of glass stairs, stopping once she reached the dance floor. The music that enveloped her was soft, making her want to grab a partner and dance. But Piper had to make sure that her siblings were okay. Her eyes glazed the floor, spotting Rachel and Annabeth who was chatting to a young gentleman with black hair and sparkling green eyes. Piper was also glad that there was no sight of the Prince as she wasn’t here to gain his attention. But somehow, the girl had as the prince tapped her lightly on the shoulder.
“Would you care to dance?” Prince Jason asked when Piper spun around.
Piper’s teeth sank into her lip as everyone locked gazes with the beautiful, Cherokee woman.
“Sure,” she whispered to him, placing her hand into his outstretched one.
Prince Jason lead her towards the middle of the room. They began dancing, Piper tripping over the hem of her dress on the turns. But the Prince was always there to help her back up as others danced around them in the same, slow beat. Prince Jason’s mesmerizing blue eyes and blond hair was taking her to a completely new world where she lived happily with her family.
However, the clock striking midnight broke Piper from her daze. She pulled herself away from the dashing Prince and began to ascend the stairs that led to the exit.
“Wait,” Prince Jason sang out. “What is your name?”
“Just wait and see,” Piper replied, a smile stretched across her face. “Just you wait and see.”
Piper left the ball, one of her heels slipping off her foot as she ran to the limo, so she could get home before her family.
Once she got home, she had immediately raced to her room, changing the elegant dress to her favourite and simple bluebell one. Piper also rubbed the make-up off her face and undid her hair so that it fell back to her shoulders. The girl made her way to the loungeroom before she sat down to read a book of fairy tales.
It was exactly one o’clock in the morning when the rest of her family arrived home, full of happiness and conversation about the mystifying brunette in the white dress. Piper rolled her eyes as she placed the book down on the coffee table. She cleared her throat and looked at her family.
“You know what you have to do,” she said. “Clean the house then go to the basement.” Piper paused before continuing. “Make it fast as I need to have a conversation with you.” Piper shuddered as she remembered the vision she was blessed with at the ball. “Just go straight to your room.”
Her family headed down to the cold and grimy basement. Piper went after them, flicking the lights on. Annabeth and Rachel looked at Piper, their eyes reflecting concern for the youngest.
“What’s the matter?” Asked Rachel as she braided her flaming red hair.
Still too kind, Piper thought.
“If you aren’t then you can tell us,” Annabeth added as she redid her blonde hair into a ponytail. “Take a seat and tell us-“
“No, I am fine,” Piper said. “But I want you to go upstairs and tidy yourself up.” She stopped, studying her family’s reaction. “Tomorrow… we are going to the palace.”
Rachel and Annabeth rose to their feet in a hurry. Squeals of delight came from their lips and to Piper’s unknown expectance, they drew their arms around her. Piper, whose face was lit with a smile, hugged them back, ensuring them that she was going to try her hardest to change in personality. Her oldest siblings ran upstairs, and their excited footsteps were heard as they went to tidy themselves up. Piper shooed her step-mother and father up the stairs. When they were gone, the Cherokee woman found herself studying the basement.
She never really thought about how her family had been living and now that she decided to let them back upstairs with her, Piper felt a lot less guilty of their harsh treatment. The girl’s fingers flicked off the basement lights before she locked the basement door behind her.
~***~The next day, Piper donned on the same frilly white dress from the previous night before she explained what had happened to her family. She told them about how she envisioned herself in a much happier life with her parents full of bright smiles and her siblings with their children. Annabeth and Rachel had enveloped her in their comfortable hugs as soon as Piper was finished telling her tale. The girl had cried but she was proud of herself for the determination she was showing. She was that proud, that she sent her older siblings upstairs with something to wear.
Annabeth had come to the top of the stairs; a dazzling aura surrounded her thin frame. She was wearing an ash-coloured floor-length dress that matched her eyes. The dress was embellished with puffed sleeves and lace around the bodice. The skirt was endorsed with tulle. Annabeth’s blonde hair was twirled on the top of her head and pinned down with bobby pins. Rachel was much different to Annabeth. Her dress was a bottle green in colour and fell to the floor in simply one piece of material. The dress was floral laced, and a black belt sat around her waist. Rachel’s flaming red hair was curled and pinned to one side and her lips were a bold red.
Piper enveloped the girls into a hug before ushering them into a shiny, black limousine. They were driven to the palace as many on-goers pointing at the girls, smiles on their stranger faces. Piper waved as they went to the palace as her sisters followed her example. Eventually, the girls arrived at the palace. They were rushed to the meeting room of the palace where Prince Jason sat at the round table. His blue eyes lit up in delight a he swept Piper off her feet, placing the other black heel on the foot that was missing one. He lowered her back to the ground where she hugged him, tears flowing from hr eyes.
“I am grateful,” Prince Jason began. “I am grateful that you decided to come back and especially with your lovely sisters who are so willing to support your every action.”
Piper had one of the biggest grins on her face. “Yes,” she said. “I am very proud of them and how they stuck to me despite my attitude.”
Jason held Piper’s hands as he dropped t the ground on his knees. Pulling out a box Jason asked, “Will you, Piper, be honoured in becoming my wife?”
“Yes!” Piper exclaimed. “Of course, I will.”
~***~A week later, Piper found herself gracefully walking down the aisle to her husband-to-be. She was wearing her wedding gown; a white silk and laced one with her hair twirled in a bun. Her make-up was basic, but she was dusted with shimmer powder, so she sparkled in the sunlit church. In Piper’s hands was a bouquet of red roses whom she handed to Annabeth when she stopped in front of her Prince Jason, whose closely-cropped blond hair sparkled in the sun.
“Hello darling,” Jason whispered to her, causing Piper to blush. “I hope you are ready for this.”
Piper giggled as she took Jason’s hands in hers. “Of course, I am ready for this,” she replied to her Prince. “I am more than ready.”
Their vows were exchanged and lastly, Jason’s lips touched Piper’s which officially made them married. They spun to their crowd and Piper threw her bouquet of roses in the air. Annabeth caught them, promising everyone that her and her raven-haired boyfriend would get married the next week.
Her raven-haired boyfriend was Percy, Jason’s twin brother. Piper was ecstatic to see Annabeth happy when she married him the following week. Rachel however never married but she was still happy as the years went by, Piper and Annabeth having children with their beloved Royals.
And so this story ends with a happily ever after as everyone was indeed extremely happy and the ending of their lives were, despite being sad, fulfilling and prosper.🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌
