Not really caring about the other Slytherins around her Chrysoprase bickers happily with Blaise who keeps her walking straight. "Why do you hold onto his arm?" The question from Draco throws the girl off for a second, but then she answers. "Because I am clumsy and when I'm talking I can't concentrate on walking and not running into walls if my life dependent on it so I need someone to hold onto in any way shape or form or I'll just land on my ass or break some bones. I'd probably even wander off a cliff if I was left alone and wouldn't even notice until it hurts.", the girl admits. "It's true. She almost walked straight into a lamp post while talking to me.", Blaise says. The girl blinks. "Did I?" The group watches the two talk amongst themselves and then step into the classroom where Snape already awaits them with his dooming presence looming over the room. "Good Morning Professor Snape.", the girl says out of polite habit before asking her question. "Can we choose who's sitting next to us or will you pick?" The professor glances at her. "Zabini and Lapis you can sit right there.", the man approves of the Hufflepuff girl joining the Slytherin front of preference. Snape didn't have as much hatred for the Hufflepuffs. It was the Gryffindors he couldn't stand in the least. But Hufflepuffs were a tight second. Ravenclaws he could ALMOST tolerate and Slytherins he mostly liked, apart from a few utterly stupid specimens. "Nott and Malfoy right next to Lapis. Parkinson and Pilley next to Zabini. Crabbe and Goyle right here in the front." They all sit down. Draco right next to Chrysoprase. "Can we talk?", he asks her. The girl turns to look at him. "Give me a second to unpack." She quickly does then nods. "What do you want to know?" "Why do you hate me?" "I don't hate anyone from the Slytherin house.. Well.. Maybe apart from Flint. I really can't stand him. But otherwise I don't hate anyone.", the girl says. "But why do you react to me as if you do?" "Let's be honest. If your father finds out we get along my parents will drown in letters demanding us to me married by the next week.", the girl says and Draco blinks. "What?" "I have received wedding contracts from everyone here at this table, Draco. You, Blaise, Theo.. Hell even Crabbe and Goyle and any other pureblood family that thinks they can get very rich and influential by marrying their son to me." "But you and Blaise get along great." "Yes. Because I doubt his mother cares enough to write more than one letter. Your father however... Is one persistent son of a bitch." Even Draco cracks a smile at her wording while Pansy is full out laughing and Snape, who has overheard their discussion, quickly slaps a hand to his mouth in the desperate effort to stop himself from laughing, turning away from the class as if to look at the potion shelves. "So.. You really don't hate me?" "Nope. Although we have some clear disagreements when it comes to many things I really don't hate you. It's just the way you were raised. I can't really.. Hate you for that." "Friends?" "Sure. But if your father is around prepare yourself for a good dosage of hate filled glares." "Well I do not think you'll have to worry about that with me.", Pansy throws in from the other side of Blaise and Chrysoprase snorts. "Oh. I don't know. Maybe if your parents are desperate enough and caught in the moment.." Pansy grins. "Marry me, my love." "Oh. But you see.. I am already promised to a different hand, not thee.", Chrysoprase goes along, doing a dramatic fainting pose. They amuse each other like that until all the other students have filtered into the classroom. Hufflepuffs, Gryffindors and Ravenclaws.
Since there really are only a few wizarding students the entire year can fit into one classroom. And after the OWLs a lot of them probably would choose not to have potions anymore anyways.
Snape begins his lesson and Chrys writes along, sometimes pushing her paper a bit to Draco, sometimes a bit to Blaise so that they can copy what's written on it in case they didn't succeed in keeping up with the pace. The girl being able to write perfectly with both hands was a huge help as well.
Finally they get to the brewing part and the girl keeps a close eyes on her friends. Her eyes widen as she sees Pansy's potion. "Pansy! Stirr that thing counter clockwise 3 times and put in bay leaves. Or that will go up in your face.", she hisses to the girl who immediately follows her advice, making the potion turn back to the right color and their entire table release a breath of relief. "You're good in potions.", Blaise mumbles. "Of course I am. I am a Lapis. We've had many famous potioneers in our family. It's in our blood." She fills a vial with her potion, labels it and takes it up to Snapes desk. The man takes it, checks the scent, then nods, allowing her to sit down again. As she walks back to her seat the eyes of the golden trio are glued to her.
After the lesson she is talking to Pansy, having her arm linked to a pridefully striding Blaise as she notices Cedric outside the classroom. Sending her new group of friends a smile and a wave she hurries over to her boyfriend, jumping into his arms and pressing a kiss to his lips, before wrapping herself up in his arms and grinning at him widely. "I take it you had a good lesson?" "I love potions, Ced. It's such a great subject.", Chrysoprase beams, as they set in motion. "Well.. Lucky for you your boyfriend has a free period now so I'll take you wherever you need to go." "It appears you are in luck." "How so?" "Since I don't visit Divination anymore I have a free period." Cedric's face splits into a wide, happy smile. "Where to then, my love?" "Wherever our feet may carry us." "Are you serious?" "No.. Let's go to the library."
