Why couldn't they get a peaceful year? News of the escape of alleged mass murderer Sirius Black from Azkaban shook the fundaments of the wizarding world like an earthquake and Chrysoprase was annoyed. Had those people even any idea that there was no trial? No nothing? Just conviction? She had sent anonymous letters to the ministry to let them know they fucked up in not testing which spell was last fired from Sirius Blacks wand. He had been a year below her mother who had told her that Sirius was a very much emancipated man from his family and a Gryffindor on top of that and she had serious doubts he had done something like that. There was simply no way.
Much to Chrysoprases dismay she had to send those anonymous owls from the normal wizarding London and open post stations for her families owls were distinctively... more beautiful and well kept than those. They were pampered, if she was honest.
Humming softly to herself the 'Once upon a December' waltz the girl makes her way through wizarding London when suddenly she stands face to face with the tall Blaise Zabini. A Slytherin from her year. "Lapis." "Zabini." Her eyes fall onto his hands. He had no mittens on and honestly.. He simply looked cold. Not because his face was an ever judging blank slate but because he was freezing in the snowy, icy weather. Without much thinking the girl slides off her fingerless gloves and puts them on his hands. Blaise stares at her. He is mildly confused as her kind gesture so he can't help but just stare and try to work out what in the world just happened. "See you around.", she smiles gently, then takes off again. And he turns to look at her fading shape getting lost between the other wizards, then at his hands. They were already a lot warmer.
They had met again, walking into each other when the girl exits the post owlery and walks into him. He catches her with one arm, stabilizing her and waiting until she stands safely again. "Thanks.", she mumbles embarrassed. He smiles to himself. "Tea, Lapis?", he offers. "Coffee, Zabini.", she accepts and, for stability, links her arm to his.
They sit in a small bakery with tea, coffee and lots of delicious looking baked goods.
Chrys orders a Cappuccino and Blaise a Chai latte. They also get some snacks. A slice of black currant pie for Chrys and a blueberry muffin for Blaise.
"You know.. Its kind of relaxing hanging around with you. I like it.", the girl admits after a while, making the boy blink and look at her in subtle but noticeable surprise. "Do you now?" "You're very calm and not conversation demanding unlike a lot of my friends so I'm kind of glad I can just... Sit and be my boring self.", she smiled and Blaise cracks a small grin. "You are anything but boring." "You think so? Well think again." Now he can't help but chuckle, pearly whites flash from his mouth. Chrys claps her hand excitedly. "I made you laugh!", she exclaims with her amber eyes lighting up like stars. Blaise quickly cools down a bit but still remains a bit softer.. Maybe that would be her imagination. "All of that just to make me laugh?" Chrysoprase shakes her head. "Nope. I actually am enjoying myself. The rest.. Mmmaybe." Blaise quickly finds himself softening up to the Hufflepuff and they enjoy themselves together in the small bakery for about an hour and a half before leaving together to use the floo to leave for their respective homes. "Hey Lapis?" "You can call me Chrys, you know...", the girl smiles. Blaise blinks, then shrugs. "Fine. Chrys...?" "Yes?" "Want to hang out together again?" "I'll be here in two days again.", Chrys offers while holding onto his arm lightly as to not stumble and fall. She wasn't the best at holding conversations while walking without steady support. A trait her friends had quickly accepted and that got her to be holding hands or holding onto the arm of any of her friends while walking.. Anywhere in the castle or elsewhere really. "What time?" "Same as today. I'll head to the post owlery." "What for?" The girl hesitates for a moment. "I'm writing anonymous letters to the ministry." Blaise blinks at her. "Why?" "Because I do not believe Sirius Black to be guilty of the crimes he has been imprisoned for. He was a Gryffindor and a very proud one after running away from his family and he lived with the Potters. He was practically James's brother and he probably would have preferred dying over giving out any information on where the Potters are. My mom talked about him a lot recently. She said he would always stand in front of his friends in a protective manner if they were duelling in the hallways. Another thing is.. He wasn't even given a trial. Bartemius Crouch Sr. simply convicted him and that is highly illegal. They never even tested what spell was last fired with his wand. A very easy test that would, if you'd ask me, with a 99% guarantee prove that he wasn't the killer at all and that they condemned a man for 12 years of imprisonment in Azkaban for nothing at all." Blaise blinks. "You really believe that?" "I could always trust my gut instinct and it's telling me that people have wronged that man horribly. He was my moms first love, Blaise. She knows him very well. They would have married if she wouldn't have been forced into marriage with my father as purebloods do." "Well... who do you think is the one that killed those muggles then?" "Peter Pettigrew." "What?" "Think about it. If Pettigrew had really been 'torn apart' there would have been a lot of blood. But there was little to nothing and a finger. A finger that looked as if it were cut clean off. I think that Pettigrew cut off his finger, left and condemned his friend to the punishment he would have deserved.", the girl explains, as Blaise purposefully slows down their stride, so he can listen a while longer. "But wasn't Pettigrew a total wimp?" "Exactly. Now. What if deatheaters caught him? He would have spilled everything if they even simply winked at him! And would he stand his man and receive punishment like one? Definitely not. He would blame it on somebody people had always pulled up their noses at for his heritage that would be in his way. Sirius Black. James Potters loyal best friend and brother." Blaise begins to connect all the strings and finds himself at the same conclusion. "Merlin.. Black really is innocent isn't he?" Chrysoprase nods slightly. "I'm honestly thinking of writing a letter to the ministry in my actual name telling them that if I as a 13 year old should be right about this I'll have them all buried alive for what they did." "You sound nothing like a Hufflepuff.", Blaise tells her with a small smile. The girl rolls her eyes. "I may be a cute badger most of the time but if people just poke me with a stick I'll rip them into shreds." They stop before the fireplaces and each grab a handful of floo powder. "Lapis family estate.", Chrysoprase calls out as she steps into the fireplace, throwing down the handful of floo powder and Blaise soon follows her example, just to his respective home.
