".. I swear she is so..." "Ron! Just shut up!!!" For days and weeks now Chrysoprase had endured Ron bullying the very booksmart muggleborn Gryffindor they had met on the train and she had all but enough of finding the girl in the bathrooms and consoling her as she cries. Harry, Ron, Seamus and Dean freeze in their tracks. The students around them look on in curiosity. "Why? What have I done now?" "You're a bully, Ron! Just because someone has more academic success than you and you are jealous it doesn't mean you are entitled to make them feel miserable for it!! So what if she likes books and to study?! So do I!! I'm done being a nice Hufflepuff and listening to you dragging her through the mud for no good reason. With Malfoy I could maybe understand it since he offended you the very first day. But Hermione has done nothing to you but to try and help you in her own way that may be weird for you because she is straight forward while you are just, Helga forgive me, a bloody fucking piece of shit! A little brat that can't handle that there are people better than themselves. And don't you dare try and make this about me! I will not stand by and listen to you making that poor girls life hell!", Chrysoprase explodes into her cussing, her eyes glowing with rage and anger. No one should have provoked the honey badger because now she was livid and ready to dish out all that had been brewing up in her. "She's just arrogant and wants to rub it in everyone's faces that..." "What kind of a stupid excuse is that? What's wrong with being proud of accomplishments!? Are you ashamed of winning a round of chess?!?" Ron shrinks under the fuming Hufflepuff. "She deserves.." "Better. Yes. I completely agree. I'm so about to wring your neck like a towel, I swear to Merlin Ron! You better make it up to her!" "Or what?" "Or you have to look for another badger to be willing to spend time with you while watching out fot this one because I will hex you every second I get the chance to. I'm done! I don't want to be a bloody bully. If you need it to feel good about yourself that makes you even less of a person than you already are." "But..." *smack* The echo of the slap rings through the castle halls. "Yeah!!" The group of Slytherins applauds her and Chrysoprase glowers at them. "You aren't any better. Shove it up your own arses because you're already so good at kissing up to it.", she yells at them, immediately silencing them. She marches off, leaving Harry standing next to Ron with a shocked expression. "What just happened?" "She smacked you. Pretty good too.", Seamus unhelpfully comments. Looking at the red handprint slowly turning a cherry color on Ron's face. "She is kind of right, you know...? We've made Granger cry at least five times already. And that's only this week. It's Tuesday.", Dean says. The boys shrink in realization. "Merlin's beard.."
That same evening the two boys had saved Hermione from a troll and suddenly the three were best friends. A change that Chrysoprase could only roll her eyes at. Ron and Hermione were one toxic duo she didn't want anything to do with, so she decides to rather stick with Cedric and the other older Puffs she befriended, not really minding not having direct friends in her year anymore. She could work with anyone if necessary and as long as they were friendly so was she. As easy as that.
Well... Maybe not everyone since she and Draco from time to time butted heads as she was repelled by his slurrs against muggleborns and Pansy since the girl had already started leeching onto Dracos arse. Pathetic in Chrysoprases opinion. Especially since she often caught the girl sneaking glances at other girls. But Chrysoprases purpose and interests were solely academic in nature so she would put up with both or either of them if Snape would pair them up since.. Well.. She was a pureblood. A practically saint like one too. That meant less stressing for Snape about those two having good grades every time since she was also incredibly intelligent, yet not voicing or showcasing it as much as Hermione did because she saw no purpose to draw more attention to her and have her house flooded with wedding contracts ready to sign. She just wanted to have good grades and live happily ever after with her friends. Was that too much to ask?!
Apparently yes.
In their first year Harry Potter, her once friend, went and defeated a teacher and in their second year he faced a basilisk in the chamber of secrets. Merlin was she happy she wasn't friends with them anymore and not obligated to partake in that kind of shit. It would probably scare the living shit out of her.
And they did try. Well... Hermione tried... To get her to befriend the two boys once more, but Chrys wasn't too trusting in the opinion of a girl that became friends with her bully and his 'neutral' bystander. It was ridiculous. Instead she stayed with her friends. Her true friends.
