It had taken quite some time to tell Cedric of everything that had happened. And to tell the curious students how Chrysoprase was able to ride a real Chimaera into battle.
The beasts had vanished and she guessed they were back at the sanctuary.
Even more complicated it had been to explain to a bunch of unknowing wizards who and what the ancient greek gods were and just how they had come to choose Chrysoprase as their vessel.
Not that she'd actually dare to tell about the torture and pain her heartache had put her through after he'd died. That was a topic to speak about when alone together.

"Thank you!" Molly Weasley pulls the girl into a tight embrace, some tears in her eyes. Fred had just properly explained that the younger girl had taken care of him so that he'd remain unharmed and saved him from being buried alive by a collapsing wall. "It's alright. I'm still a Hufflepuff at heart. No matter how Slytherin I might behave from time to time. It would be a very unhufflepuff-like thing for me to just leave him to die when I could definitely save him. I didn't even really think about it." But before she can humble talk her way out of it, Fred too hugs her and George joins in, sandwiching the girl between them. "Thank you.", they chorus softly. Lifting her hands she pats their messy ginger hair, closing her eyes, a soft smile on her lips. "You're welcome."
After them she is overrun by her friends. Eleanor and Willa sob into her arms. Nicholas too joins in. When the Hufflepuffs have had their share she finally locks eyes with Draco who stands in front of the remaining group. He looks tired. But relieved at the same time. "Come here, my dear Slytherin prince.", she smiles. He snorts and quickly moves into her arms. "Blaise. You too! Theo! Pansy!" They don't even hesitate and join the hug. Draco even cries. So when they step apart, she cups his cheeks. "Now that just won't do. Where is my arrogant but sweet friend gone? I know he's still there.", Chrys says, poking the boys sides. He starts laughing and she smiles as he does. The others join in. Blaise turns to look at Chrys. "I guess the wait for an answer is over then?" "I'm so sorry, Blaise." He smiles. "I guess it's better this way. I'll find someone." "I'm sure you will." Cedric steps up to them. "What's that about?"
"When you were still dead I confessed to her. It was during the first year after you passed. I swear by my life, Diggory.. If I ever see her like that again I will kill you." "I will not leave her. Never again." The girl melts into his arms. No matter what would come their way.. they'd face it together. "Want to go to my place?", Chrys asks Cedric softly. "Your place? The manor?" "No. My place. At the sanctuary I work at." "You are working?" "I dropped out of school after you died, Ced. I took an extern exam to emancipate myself, have the NEWT's under my belt, be able to use magic freely out of school and got a job at a Chimaera sanctuary in Greece. I don't live in the UK anymore." The boy just seems a bit overwhelmed. "Actually.. I think I've got a better idea. Maybe we should visit someone that will have missed you just as much as I did." Cedric blinks, then his eyes widen. "My parents...!" She nods and he presses a kiss to her lips. "Miss Lapis.." Professor McGonagall makes her way over to the girl. "Professor?" "I would like to see you here again. We do desperately need a potions and a defence against the dark arts teacher. Professor Slughorn just stressed his resignation to me.", the woman says. Chrys smiles. "Really?" "Would I offer it to you if I didn't mean it?" "But am I not the same age as the students?" "Who cares about that? What you've achieved is well worth of either of the positions. What do you say?" The students around her cheer her on. "I'll teach potions for you, Professor. I'm coming home."
"I am glad." "But for now I have someone to take home to his parents. You know how to reach me if you do need me?" McGonagall nods. "Ready, handsome?", Chrys asks Cedric with a small grin, her eyes getting moist when she realizes she now would be able to tell him how much she loves him face to face again. He nods and they disapparate.

"Let's surprise them...", Chrys smiles, hiding him just out of view, then knocks.
"Who's there?!" "It's me Mr. Diggory! We did it. Voldemort is dead." The door is opened and Amos looks at her. "My dear girl... You look terrible." Chrys laughs and nods. "I killed around a hundred death eaters, rode a Chimeara and made the impossible possible. I think I am allowed to look terrible." Mrs. Diggory joins them and gently brushes over Chrys's cheek. "I think she looks just as beautiful as the last time I saw her." Chrys watches with a fond smile as the parents look around in shock. Cedric steps into frame and wraps his arm around Chrysoprase. "Hello dad. Mom." "My boy..! Am I dreaming. Tell me I'm not dreaming!" "I don't quite know how I did it either but I heard the voice of an ancient god. The godfather Zeus. He is the protector of the Chimaeras. The same magical beast that is my spirit animal. A part of my very being. He asked me to tell him what it is I long for the most and I answered with only a name. I went to war for him and in return he gave me back Cedric. How, I don't understand. But he really is back." Amos lets out a cry and pulls his only son into his arms, Mrs. Diggory meanwhile breaks down crying, soon to be embraced by her son, while Amos pulls Chrysoprase into their home. "Come in. Let's get you a nice bath and a meal. I don't know how I can thank you for bringing back our son but I'll forever be in your debt." "How about you'll let me become family someday? That'd be all I could ask for." "I'd like nothing more."
