Chrysoprase arrives with a loud snap echoing through the air. "Welcome to our sanctuary.", a very greek man greets her. She finds herself smiling and shakes his hand. "Good to meet you. I'm Chrysoprase Lapis." "Alesandro Callis. Follow me. You'll need to learn quickly if you don't want to be torn into pieces. If they want to they can easily break out of their cages. So we need to treat them like gods." Chrys nods. "Don't get too close. And never even try to harm one of them. You either die from them attacking you and tearing you apart or by Zeus's wrath for harming them."
"I think I'll manage that."
They enter the sanctuary and her eyes meet those of the first Chimaera she'd ever seen. The beast was massive, but also not even remotely as large as a dragon. More like.. twice the size of a large horse. The beast gets onto its feet and much to the horror of Alesandro it walks up to them. It's eyes hypnothize the girl, entracing her to move closer and closer, unable to even hear the mans pleas for her to snap out of it. She is close enough to feel the beasts hot breath on her skin. She holds out her hand and the lions head leans down, sniffs it. Alesandro has frozen in amazement, when the beasts tongue starts licking over the girls arm. Climbing into the cage another few of the beasts immediately join the first one in grooming the girl, that was like them. Misunderstood and haunted.
It was the first time that they let a human into their ranks. Truly letting it in.
It had never happened before.
But Chrysoprase Lapis had come to them for a reason. She was one of their pride. When she finally snaps out of it and looks up directly into the golden eyes of one of the beasts she feels a calming sensation fill her, nothing like anything she had ever felt before. "I think I've found a place to belong.", she says, loud enough for Alesandro. "So do I. I've never seen anything like this. They've only ever shown aggression." "They can't help it. So many wizards have attempted to hunt them for sport. For their uniqueness. But I've always been one of them. This...", Chrys pulls her wand out of her pocket and lets the Chimaeras sniff it, ".. is the only wand in existence with a Chimaera fur core. And I am the only wizard documented to have the Chimaera as my patronus." "You have what?" Casting the charm the whispful Chimaera joins the real ones, before, like it always does, moving around Chrys and then fading into her heart. "A corporal patronus is extremely difficult to achieve. I haven't even ever seen anyone able to cast it." "I just use my happiest memory and its warmth fills my every vein. And when I cast it, it feels as if I'm back in that moment.", Chrys says, brushing through the lions mane as a temporary goodbye before exiting the cage. "May I ask what memory you are thinking about?" "I think about the day the love of my life held me so close I felt as if I'd never leave his arms again." "Leaving behind a boyfriend, huh?" "He died last year. Killed by a dark wizard while participating in a Triwizard Tournament. I only left behind his grave.", Chrys mumbles. "I.. I'm so sorry." "Don't worry too much. I'll live. He'd never forgive me if I just gave up life."
Meanwhile things in Hogwarts were going to shit.
The days working at the sanctuary were.. very relaxed for her, but she understood it, when her colleagues were exhausted and wanted to take the evening of that very day to leave and get some drinks in a tavern. Since she wasn't of legal age to drink anyways and she actually found it calming to be around the beasts, she volunteered to stay and look over the beasts during their time off. A proposition that was quickly accepted. After all.. She alone was more than capable to keep the whole pride they had calm.
"Hello, handsome.", Chrys gently greets the pride leader Ceberus, named after the hellhound of Hades. She found it very adorable that Ceberus meant as much as 'Spot' in english. Somehow it made the male very much adorable in her opinion. The male was also the very Chimaera she met first when arriving at the sanctuary. He breathes hot air into her face and leans down, pressing his head against her, rubbing it against hers. She starts to rub his mane in an affectionate way, while he coaxes her into their enclosure, further and further away from the gate.
Finally she sits down amonst them. "You know.. You make it a bit easier for me to heal. And I love each and every single one of you for that. Thank you. All of you." She closes her eyes, to let a small tear escape them, but quickly brushes them off. "I'm just glad I get to be a part of your group. I haven't felt at home like this for a while."
