'Tis was the evening of the year.
A bustle of girls is giggling as they are moving through the dorm, another group is sulking in a corner after not being asked.
Chrysoprase Lapis was neither. She was quiet and concentrated on perfecting her MakeUp.
She didn't ever really wear any. The only beauty products she sometimes used were simply some chapstick and some nailpolish to make her nails look nice. A small feature of hers she immensely prided herself on. Her long, well kept nails.
Her mother had taken particular care that her daughter would have the most expensive gown if the entire ball. And Merlin had the woman delivered. The handcrafted and hand embroidered princess gown made from soft rosé tulle was a dream and fit her so perfectly she could have been sown into it and it wouldn't have been better. It was waiting for her on her bed and had been charmed with a multitude of helpful charms by her mother. Water and dirt repellant, non-creasing and many more features had been added.
Finally Chrys found herself satisfied with her winged eyeliner. The natural young beauty had transformed herself into a beautiful lady. Sliding into her dress she then proceeds to charm her hair into a wavy waterfall. Everything drapes and falls around her, like a multitude of silky veils.
She looked positively stunning. Her feet slide into her heeled shoes, charmed with a comfort spell so she wouldn't get sore feet from dancing in them the entire evening. Thankfully her dormmates had already left. Only one of them had been invited so the others went to join the others who went without dates to go and spy out any lonely males they could snatch up, so Chrys had been able to get ready in peace.
Walking out of the dormroom she hears the first gasps from other girls out in the hallway.
The clicks of her heels alert the boys waiting in the common room, one of them being Cedric, that a girl was coming downstairs. Only when she finally lifts her gaze from the ground she can see the gobsmacked faces of everyone, her boyfriend included. "I... You look stunning, Love." "So do you, handsome.", she smiles gently, allowing her eyes to linger a bit on her completely dressed up boyfriend. He cracks a charming smile and quickly walks up to her. "Also..this lipstick is unsmudgeable.", she grins and pulls him down to her. They share a kiss while some boys wolfwhistle or make other.. immature sounds.
"Permission for me to whisk you away?" "Granted." They leave together, from time to time exchanging glances with each other, wondering how in the world they ever did get so lucky that they ended up like this.. With each other. One could practically see the pink clouds of adoration and love float around them. "Aaah. Mister Diggory! And Miss Lapis. My.." McGonagall looks at the girl impressed by her appearance. Chrysoprase Lapis had left a most definitely lingering impression when she had verbally assaulted Alastoir Moody. "Please.. would you join the other champions over there?" And they do. "I have mentioned to you that the opening dance is left to the champions, right?" Chrys looks up at her boyfriend. "You are lucky I love you and that I have been going on balls ever since I could walk." He smiles, wraps his arm around her waist and pecks her cheek, making them flush a soft pink. Beaming back at him with the brightest smile she had ever given anyone in her life she slides a bit closer to him, throwing her arms around his torso and resting her head against his chest. "I am kind of nervous. You've been doing this for as long as you can remember and its as natural to you as breathing.. Can I even keep up with you?", Cedric asks softly. She looks up at him. "Handsome.. If you dare doubt yourself for one more second I'm going to punch you." Cedric blinks. "I feel nervous so.. you threaten me with violence?" "Cedric. You are a perfectly fine dancer. And you are the lead. I'll follow your pace. You are perfect to me no matter what. Don't worry." The brown haired boy smiles at her, his grey eyes sparkling. "Thank you. For a second there I thought you spend too much time with the Slytherins." "One can never spend too much time with us." Cedric looks surprised and Chrys even jumps a bit, before her eyes light up. "Draco! You look handsome." The blond boy sticks up his nose. His already huge ego growing even more with the compliment. "And what am I? Rotten fruit?" Her eyes rake over Blaise and her lips curve up into a smile. "We both know you are handsome, Blaise. Merlin knows you always are. Have you even heard the things girls whisper after you just so much as brush past them?! I'm pretty sure I had overheard some girl announce that she would happily be knocked up by you, if that's what it'd take for you to even acknowledge her.", Chrys says, pulling him into a hug. "You look ravishing by the way.", Blaise tells her and she grins. "I have to. How else will people acknowledge me as the 'Huffelpuff golden boy and Triwizard champions' girlfriend?" The two Slytherins chuckle and so does Cedric.
"Chrysssss!" Estelle throws herself into the blondes arms. She is wearing a lovely lavender A-line gown. Theo is following closely behind, same as Pansy and her date she had caught last minute, leaving Blaise without one date and instead with many, many desperate girls clinging to him. Allura Fang, a Ravenclaw one year older than them and a lovely girl with short raven hair and a round face, making her look like young Audrey Hepburn. "You look beautiful, Estelle.", she smiles at the red haired girl. "People always say that because I am a Veela. But next to you right now I feel like a goblin." "NO! You are as perfectly gorgeous as ever!", Chrys says, earning herself another hug she gladly gives back. Finally she hugs Theo and Pansy, chattering happily with them. "Now what was it about her spending too much time with us?", Draco asks. Cedric chuckles. "She's getting less and less Hufflepuff like. She's starting to wellmeaningly threaten me." Draco laughs and pats Chrys's shoulder. "Good. All our good qualities are rubbing off on her."McGonagall calls all the students into the great hall so that the champions can enter.
"You look very pretty, Chrysoprase." Surprised the blonde looks up at Hermione Granger in all her glory peeking at her from Victor Krum's arm. "You too, Hermione." A platonic smile is exchanged and she takes her boyfriends arm, then they walk in as the music plays under the applause of the other students. Twirling into position Cedric smiles lovingly at her. "Ready, Love?" "Always have been and always will be."Elegantly the couple moves through the room. He even twirls and dips her. "And you were worried?!", Chrys asks, softly with a teasing smile on her lips.
"I can't believe it either."After their opening dance that only Harry had struggled through she and Cedric step to the side for a second. "Can I borrow her?" Blaise suddenly asks, having slipped through to them. Chrys looks up at Cedric. "I'll get us some drinks. Do you want something as well, Zabini?" "There is bound to be some spiked punch. A glass of that would be preferable." Cedric cracks a smile. "Coming up." Pecking Chrys's lips he then leaves her to the mercy of Blaise. "Let's dance, little badger." She laughs, takes his hand and he twirls her before placing his hand on her waist and making them the first dancers on the floor. Neville Longbottom and Ginny Weasley soon follow and after them more and more people do. After the song ends they quickly escape towards Cedric who hands them their drinks. "I'll join the others. Enjoy the evening.", Blaise says, clinking his glass against theirs for a second, then leaves. He joins Pansy, Theo, Draco and their dates. "So..?" "I'm screwed."
