Even Amos had taken a day off from his work at the ministry to proudly send off his son on his last task.
Chrysoprase sat right in between Estelle and Blaise, smiling down at Cedric, who quickly makes his way up into the stands and grins at her. "I'd like a Good Luck kiss, please.", he smiles and Chrys laughs, before kissing him. "Come back to me, okay?" He nods, pecks her cheek and walks down the stairs, telling his father he'll see him soon. Then the canon is fired and he and Potter leave for the maze, then Victor and finally Fleur move inside and the long wait begins.

The first rescue call comes not too much later and soon enough Fleur is brought out of the maze. "I guess with that Beaux Baton has lost.", Estelle says and Eleanor and Willa, who sit next to her nod, while Chrys only squeezes her hand.

When Victor Krum himself is brought back defeated by the maze Chrys begins softly begging that Cedric will give up and just be right back with her. She didn't care for never ending glory. She just wanted Cedric.

Suddenly she hears a crack and Potter and Cedric appear. She immediately knows something is wrong. Her body begins to shake, while those around her begin to applaud until she screams in terror. Running down to him, before anyone could stop her she latches onto him, sobbing. The music cuts off and Amos joins her, crying out in anguish. "Why my son?!" Finally everyone realizes what had happened. Cedric Diggory had died.

Multiple men try to pry the girl off of him, but no one succeeds. Her entire body has frozen solid, curled around the already cold one of the boy she loved and she is crying as if it would make him wake up again. But nothing can ever raise the dead. Her friends only watch in horror. They too are frozen. Finally Blaise rips free from his frozen state and hurries down the steps to her. Gently he wraps his arms around Chrys and tries to move her. "No. I belong here! I belong with him! Leave me alone! Leave us alone!", she whimpers, burying her face in the dead boys chest. "Let go, beautiful. Please. You need to go to the hospital wing. Right now." "Not without him!" "Chrys.. He's dead." "No.." For a second her grasp weakens and he uses it to pull her off the dead boys body. She struggles against his arms, trying to go back to Cedric as her unblinking eyes pour with tears like waterfalls. Finally Draco too has broken free of his trance. "Come on." They all follow him and quickly hold onto their wildly twisting and struggling friend, dragging her away to the hospital wing, where madam Pomfrey immediately has her drink a multitude of potions, but even as she passes out she continues to cry in her sleep with her eyes wide open, their warm amber color having turned dull and grey. The horror of what she had just seen when her boyfriend was returned to her dead burned into her mind.

"Leave! She can't possibly take any more stress!", Pomfrey commands and the group does so, but not without feeling unsure if it was the right decision.

A few days had passed and the great hall was decorated with black Hufflepuff banners in honor of the friend they all had lost.
But nobody took it as hard as Chrysoprase Lapis. The girl refused food and liquid. She simply sat there in the corner of her bed, her eyes wide open and crying tears she didn't have left since she was terribly dehydrated. She didn't sleep either. She was just.. Gone.

Just after the small ceremony in Cedrics honor ends Jean and Achat Lapis enter the great hall, pulling a lot of attention onto them. Their usual air of opulence was gone and replaced with worry. "Who are those people?", Estelle questions Willa, who is sitting next to her, softly, trying to wipe a way her tears. "Those are Chrys's parents."

Dumbledore leads them to the hospital wing and Jean Lapis slaps her hands over her mouth and tears leave her eyes as she spots her daughter. Her poor, traumatized daughter. Hurrying over to her she pulls the girl into her arms and buries her face in her hair. "Mommy." It was the first word she had said in days. "Yes, my little gem?" "Make it go away. Make it all go away please. I can't take this, mommy.", the girl whimpers, breaking the hearts of her parents. Even the usually stoic Achat Lapis cries a tear of despair. He was loosing another daughter. "Chrysoprase will no longer visit Hogwarts.", he says. "I understand how you are feeling right now but.." "No, Dumbledore. The last time I listened to anyone but myself I lost my oldest daughter. It will never happen again." Moving towards his daughter he picks her up and wraps his robes around her so that her form would be hidden. "Please send her belongings home to us.", Jean says, hurrying to her daughters side and taking the girls cold hand. As they walk through the corridors a lot of students stop and watch. "Mrs. Lapis? What is going on?" McGonagall is rushing to their side, stopping the family. The friends of the girl and the golden Trio who have been coming to see what's going on all listen up. "Chrysoprase is no longer a student of Hogwarts. I haven't protected her sister enough and lost her. I will not loose my last child as well." "Just because Sapphire Lapis committed suicide it doesn't mean Chrysoprase will too." Those who didn't know suck in the air sharply or gasp. "She has the same look in her eyes as her sister. I know it too well. I see it when I close my eyes, Professor McGonagall. I may not look like it but I know my child. And I will not loose her because I listened to anyone but myself again." With that the tall man with the dangerously sparkling amber eyes and blonde hair walks off, while the brunette woman by his side desperately fights her tears.

And just like that Chrysoprase Lapis was gone.
