2010
Stevie at 61 and Lindsey at 60 were both still plugging along with their respective law careers. The kids had grown up, Lily was 16 and just as much of a pistol as her mother. Beautiful long blonde curls and brown eyes. Kate was in Law School at the age of 22. William was in his early thirties and Cole, late twenties. It was hard at times for Lindsey and Stevie but they were still functioning as a normal happy couple even though their jobs had kind of taken over after the Kids grew up. Often times now they'd find themselves fighting over court cases at home even though they had told themselves that they would never take their work home. Lily often found the fighting upsetting and she'd spend a lot of her time upstairs in her room.
On Sunday morning, Stevie was leaning over the counter, reading a magazine and sipping her coffee. Lindsey was at the kitchen table reading the newspaper and Lily was in the living room doing her homework. She tended to put her homework off until Sunday morning which Lindsey found unusual because he always pushed his homework off until the latest possible time on Sunday. Stevie, on the other hand, had always had her homework done by Friday night.
Cole came busting through the kitchen door, his girlfriend, Hannah who had Hazel eyes and blonde waves right behind him.
"Where's the fire?" Lindsey asks almost monotonously his eyes not lifting up from his paper. He was accustomed to his children's footsteps at this point and he could tell you who entered the house before they even came into view.
"Dad, You know how sometimes you take on a new client because the case interests you or you think an injustice has been done and the person is innocent?" Cole asks.
Stevie smirks from her leaning position, closing the magazine and taking her glasses off. "Yeah." Lindsey answers.
"Well, those are all good reasons." Hannah points out.
"Yeah...I think so." Lindsey nods still not picking his head up from the paper.
"And sometimes you take on a case because someone asks you too," Cole replies.
"Yeah," Lindsey says.
"Would you take on a case if we asked you too?" That peaks Lindsey's interests.
He picks his head up from the paper and looks to them, "What are you talking about?"
"Well, you could have a new...might be client, maybe. Kate's bailing him out at the jail." Hannah says.
"Kate's bailing him out of jail for what?" Lindsey questions.
"Murder." Cole states.
"Who is this person?" Lindsey sighs.
"Tyler Vick," Hannah explains.
"Friend of yours?" Lindsey stands up to lean against the table.
"Kind of. He's my sister's boyfriend and he's a professional wrestler." Hannah states.
"It's Emma's boyfriend...But all in the same, Cole you know how I feel about those bafoons you find entertaining." Lindsey states.
"Dad, they're finely tuned, professional athletes." Cole whines.
"These wrestlers don't wrestle, it's acting. Bad acting." Lindsey goes back to his paper.
"Dad." He hears Kate call and he makes a noise at the back of his throat.
Kate leads in a burley gorilla looking man and Stevie has to stifle a laugh at her husband's facial expressions.
"Dad this is Tyler Vick," Kate says. Though she was in Law School she was working as a Legal assistant for Lindsey. Christine and John were slowly weaning themselves from the practice because they were older than Lindsey and they were thinking about moving back to England.
"Mr. Macho." Hannah smiles.
"Awe Hell, any friend of Hannah's is a friend of mine." Lindsey goes to shake his hand.
It was then that Lily walked into the kitchen. "Mom I need help with my legal studies test."
"You're literally surrounded by legal people, what's your problem?" Stevie asks.
"Oh Hey, mom." Cole waves.
"Yeah Hi, Mom." Kate smiles.
"Neither of you knew I was standing here?" Stevie asks.
"Not in the slightest. Which means we probably shouldn't talk here." Kate gives a pursed smile.
"Why?" Tyler asks.
"What's your question dear?" Stevie says quickly.
"What are you and what does it mean?" Lily asks.
"You know I'm a prosecutor." Stevie rolls her eyes.
"That's why." Kate turns to Tyler.
"I know you're a prosecutor but like what are you a litigate?" Lily replies.
"No, Litigate is a plaintiff. A litigate is someone who takes someone to court. Which is used when filing Bankruptcy. I'm just a prosecutor I'm apart of the government and I try people as the Government which is why I'm known as the state." Stevie explains.
"Okay, thanks, mom." Lily runs out.
"We should probably go to my office. Let me change...If you all haven't noticed your mother and I are still in our pajamas why don't you go hang out with Lily in the living room and help her with her Legal test? She's in Business Professionals of America and she's doing...what is she doing Steph?" Lindsey turns to his wife.
"Legal Office Systems and Procedures," Stevie explains.
"Yeah, whatever that is. Go have fun. I'll be thirty minutes max." Lindsey says making his way to the staircase.

While they're sitting in the living room Kate turns to Tyler. "My mom is...she's not the head DA, that's Tom Petty...my mom is his second though. Like when he's not available people go to her and she has the ability to delegate cases and pull people from cases unless the case goes straight to Tom. The cases that go straight to Tom are mostly capital one murder cases. Which means your case will go straight to Tom. My mom is one of Tom's best DAs so he tends to send her all of the murder cases. In all of the years she's gone against my dad because she does go against my dad quite frequently she's won maybe 5. But she's been a lawyer since the 70s and I know that she wins most of her cases that aren't against my dad."
Just then Stevie walks into the living room. "Being honest here, I have a love-hate relationship with going against my husband, but I just do what I'm told. Anyway, kids, I'll be in the Garden if you need me."
"Alright, mom. I love you." Lily calls.
"I love you too. I love all of my babies." Stevie goes and kisses Cole's head, Lily's head, and Kate's head.
Cole flinches and Stevie just snorts and ruffles his brunette curly hair.
