You Can Have My Heart (Oli Sykes Fan Fiction) COMPLETE

2016

The first couple of months in 2016 saw Joy and Oli in separate places, though Joy managed a week in the UK with Oli for Valentine's Day. The pair spent 3 nights in London where Bring Me The Horizon performed at two awards shows and picked up a number of awards, though Joy almost died of shock when Oli trashed Coldplay's table at one of them!

Oli went on tour to South America and Mexico straight after, before taking Joy to South Africa for her Birthday in March. He organised for her to swim with sharks and skydive in Cape Town, 2 activities she mentioned being on her bucket list back when they started dating – though he didn't participate in either activity himself. They also went on safari and spent 4 days in a remote village in Botswana helping to build and teach at a local elementary school.

At the end of the Africa trip, Joy and Oli travelled to New York where Joy bought her own apartment; a modest but comfortable penthouse on the Upper East Side, before Oli flew back to Europe to go back on tour. A month later, Bring Me The Horizon were back in the US playing festivals all over the country with little rest between. Oli and Joy spent a total of about 6 days together, and 4 days at the end of the tour before Oli jetted back to the Europe to go on tour yet again. Both Oli and Joy struggled with the lack of being together, so much so that Oli threatened his record label with quitting. The label decided to give the band a break from mid-July to mid-August and Oli travelled with Joy around Los Angeles, Paris and London as she met work commitments, spending time with her on her days off and attending some of her appearances as well.

During their month-long break, Jordan and Emma welcomed the first Bring Me The Horizon baby; a son named Eliot. Joy cancelled work commitments so she and Oli could rush to Southern London after he suffered a brain haemorrhage at just 4 days old; deciding that supporting their friends was much more important than a product launch! Eliot was eventually OK, but Bring Me The Horizon left Jordan behind as they went back on the tour circuit, playing at music festivals across Europe while Joy headed back to the USA.

In September, Bring Me The Horizon toured Australia with Jordan back in tow. Joy took a week off to travel with the band, taking them to her hometown to show them where she grew up, and to introduce Oli to her Aunt. They played in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney, but Oli ruptured his vocal chords with 3 shows still to play. He spent the following day in hospital and was ordered not to complete the tour. Joy flew back to Sheffield with him and all of Bring Me The Horizon's shows for the following 6 weeks were rescheduled. Joy was upset to have to leave Oli for New York Fashion Week commitments, but flew back when it was finished to check on his recovery before heading into London Fashion Week.

At the end of October, Jordan, Oli and his brother Tom planned to hike Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for the hospital that took care of Jordan's son. It was something Oli had always wanted to do, so after being given the all-clear by doctors, the trio headed off for 8 days. They asked fans and friends to sponsor them and raised just under £100,000. Joy was busy in Dubai at the time of the hike, but when the tired climbers landed at Manchester airport, Joy surprised Oli by greeting him at arrivals along with Emma and Eliot as well. Oli looked like he'd lost weight and needed a long rest, but of course, he looked happy to see her unexpectedly.

A few days later in early November, Joy walked her third lingerie fashion show; this time held in Paris, France. Oli was on tour in the UK but flew to Paris for a total of 30 hours so he could cheer her on from the front row. Joy headed back to the UK with Oli to catch a couple of Bring Me The Horizon's shows before flying back to New York. Oli toured Europe for the rest of November before joining Joy in New York in early December.

Once again, the pair flew to Sheffield just in time for Christmas with Oli's family, and then they spent the whole month of January together.
