YOUR POV

it was his funeral. the love of your life had passed away due to a car crash not too long ago. it had been a week now, and your heart still felt like it has been shattered into a million pieces. you sat there, in the church, on the wooden bench with your head down. praying this wouldn't be real.

"everybody's dressed in black." you said to yourself. looking around and observing the room, you noticed everybody in their suits or dresses, and possible vails hiding their faces. "the preacher said 'life goes too fast.'" your eyes started to water as you stared at the casket that withheld him.

"the memories have turned to tears." the warm, salty water substance ran down your cheeks quickly. the longer you were here, the more it hurt. "thinking back on all the years." people started to leave as the preacher man said his final words, getting prepared to send the boy off to his resting place.

you got up, and walked up to the grey-colored coffin, gently resting your hand on it. "i know that you're in a better place." you whispered to keep your voice steady. "but i'm still here missing you today." your heart clenched at the thought of your beloved being gone. out of your arms, never to be held again.

"it isn't easy, to say goodbye. but i know it's only for a little while." the words rolled out of your mouth as you said what your heart felt. your body moved closer to it, and you opened the casket. there he was, laying lifeless, but still looking as perfect as always.

"run up ahead and i will catch up. cuz i'm gonna see you when tomorrow comes." the tears streamed faster down your face. "on the other side..." your sobs racked your body as you broke down uncontrollably. "o-on the other s-side." you wiped your eyes and started to walk around the church, observing it all.

"i bet you feel, you're finally home." your voice echoed out through the entire building, but it was soothing and pleasant. "running down those streets of gold." you smiled a little, but it still hurt your heart as you spoke. you stopped in front of a statue, and thought for a moment.

you studied the statue. "the kind of peace you can't explain. looking into jesus' face." you silently thanked the man above in your brain before consuming on your walk back again. you took time to look at each stained, but colorful window in depth. all of them spoke different messages to you.

"i know that you're in a better place." you said again, staring straight at a painting of mary and joseph, holding their son, within the window. "i know i'll be joining you someday." you smiled wider, and continued walking, but with a more joyous attitude. the more you studied the architecture, the more you believed.

"it isn't easy, to say goodbye. but i know it's only for a little while." you started your walk back again, only this time, it was returning to the coffin oh so slowly. "run up ahead and i will catch up. cuz i'm gonna see you when tomorrow comes." your body was filled with joy as the words escaped your lips in harmony.

"on the other side." you giggled a little at the vision you got of your future. when you could see him again. "when there are no more goodbyes." you stared at the casket now, feeling like you're floating as you got closer to it. "no more pain, no more tears left to cry." a tear fell as the words escaped you. your final sobs now leaving your body.

"we will join with the angels, singing their song. praising our savior, all the day long." you hummed after talking, as you finished your stroll back up to him. you smiled as you stared at his peaceful figure, all dolled up in a suit and looking as lively as ever. the color in his face looked impeccable, you could almost mistake him for being asleep.

"it isn't easy, to say goodbye. but i know it's only for a little while." you whispered to him, as if he could hear you. you could've sworn you saw a small smile appear on his deceased face. "run up ahead and i, will catch up. cuz i'm gonna see you when tomorrow comes." your smile was wide now, as if you just received the lottery.

"on the other side." you touched his hand, it was still warm somehow, but it brought you comfort. "on the other side." you ran your hand up his arm and touched his shoulder. "on the other side." you finally reached his face, and caressed his cheek. "on the other side..." you leaned down and kissed his forehead as your final tear ran down your cheek.

"rest in peace, colby. i love you. see you soon." you whispered to him one last time, before you turned away. as you reached the door, you heard a faint whisper by your ear. "i love you too y/n, always and forever." you smiled one final time, accepting his death before you left through the double doors of the church, ready for a new era.
