"tara why are we even here? more importantly why did you bring me? you know i hate coachella." she just giggled while you rolled your eyes.

"yes i know but i wanted to bring you along because devyn couldn't go and i know you dwell too much on not having a boyfriend." you just groaned and rolled your eyes again.

"but taraaaa-" she cut you off.

"oh shhh! i have a friend i want you to meet anyway!" you just sighed and followed her to her friend group.

tara tapped a tall boy's shoulder, and he turned around and smiled. he leaned down and kissed her and you already knew it was her boyfriend jake.

"hi!" he said as he pulled away.

"you must be jake. hi, i'm y/n." you smiled back and shook his head.

"correcto! colby come here!" jake called to another kid.

you saw a broad pair of shoulders turn around and you're met with the most attractive face you've ever seen. all you could do was keep your eyes on his bright blue ones.

"hey..i'm colby, and you must be y/n. tara talks about you a lot." he gives you a smile that was cute and his voice was sexy, you couldn't deal at this point.

"oh h-hi...yea i'm y/n.." you mentally slapped yourself as you looked down, blush rising to your already rosy cheeks.

you heard a low chuckle. colby grabbed your hand and said,

"come on cutie, let's go get you a drink." he gently pulled you to a booth and ordered you a small drink. thank god because you're a light-weight.

you slowly sipped it and couldn't look at him. you kept your eyes on both of your feet. colby lifted your chin carefully and studied your eyes.

"you alright? you seem on edge." he asked you.

all you did was nod. colby seemed like a great guy, and you couldn't lie you sort of liked him already. but you knew you had a great possibility of messing everything up.

"yeah sorry just..not good with talking to guys.." you said shyly.

"don't worry y/n, i won't judge you..." a slow Julia Michael's song came on as the sun started to set, "come on, want to dance with me?"

you nodded and gave him a small smile. colby grabbed your hand once again and dragged you over to the center-ish area.

he tried to put his hands on your hips, but you were hesitant and he could tell. all he did was turn his head and try to look into your eyes but you looked away again.

"hey, trust me. i won't hurt you...just get comfortable. that's all i care about." you looked into his eyes as he just nodded a little and gave you a closed mouth smile.

you took a breath and stepped closer, allowing him to place his hands on your waist, making tingles erupt around your person.

colby pulled you closer until you had your hands on his shoulders and your head was rested on his chest. he held you closely and protectively, and you could hear his heart beat. it was more steady than unsteady, but it was still slightly excited.

"you're a good guy colby, you're just...too good for me.." this caused him to step back a little and look at you.

"what do you mean i'm too good for you? you can have anybody you want." you shook your head as a tear fell down your cheek.

"no..i can't..every time i find happiness it always gets ruined. and i know it's because of me, i just know it." he gripped your hands and squeezed them.

"look at me, y/n..." you slowly looked up and he wiped your tear away with his thumb. "if you want me, you can have me. yes love comes with pain, there's no escaping that. but y/n you are not the problem, those other people were just too toxic to see what they're giving up. an incredible, smart, beautiful girl who deserves the world."

your eyes lit up at his words. you were in awe of the man in front of you. colby gave you butterflies by just simply saying your name.

"and if you'll let me...i'd love to give you it. i'll give you the world, i promise you. so what do you say, will you let me love you, the right way?" another tear slipped out of your eye.

you had everything you've ever wanted right in front of you. and the thought of messing this up made you upset. you knew that eventually he would get tired of you, and he could see the doubt in your eyes as he studied your features.

"y/n...if we fight, we'll fix it. i won't ever walk away from what we'll have. i can't walk away from that. why? because i need someone like you in my life. you're everything a boy like me could ever ask for. i won't ever leave you, i'll love you forever. slowly falling more in love every second of everyday..."

you cut him off with a kiss. he kissed back and you tangled your fingers in his hair. colby smiled into the kiss as he pulled you closer, if even possible.

you heard cheering which caused you to jolt away and look over, seeing all of your new friends erupting with happiness at the sight of you and colby.

you blushed and felt soft lips on your temple. he turned your face towards him by placing a hand on your cheek. your eyes flickered from his lips to his eyes and back again, as he did the same to yours.

"just pretend they aren't there...let's enjoy this moment baby girl." your lips brushed against each other's as you kissed again. all you felt was passion and love in the kiss and that's when you knew.
