CUDDLY BABYSITTING

FAITH POV

you picked up the phone, as you noticed that your sister was calling you. you pressed answer, before holding up the phone to your ear. "hey! what's up?" you asked, excited to be hearing from her in a couple
months.

"i hate to ask you this on such short notice, but are you able to babysit lilly for me? i just got a call from work and they need me to come in for an urgent meeting." her voice seemed rushed, and partially guilty for asking such a question.

you chuckled to yourself, "of course i'll watch her. i'm with colby as well. bring her over, i'm sure he'd love to meet her." she sighed out of relief on the other end, "thank you so much! i'll be over shortly. you're a life saver." you heard the line go dead before putting the phone back down and looking over toward the blue eyed brunette.

"who was on the phone?" he asked you softly, yet curiously. "oh it was my sister, she's bringing lilly over so we can babysit." his face fell and was covered with fear in seconds. you pouted a little and walked over to him. "you'll be okay, colbs. she's really sweet."

"what if she doesn't like me?" he asked you, and you could tell by his voice tone how anxious he was. you chuckled, "she'll love you. i've seen how you are with kids, babe." he let out a breath before nodding and smiling uneasily at you. "okay. i'm ready to meet her."

as if on cue, the doorbell rang. you walked over and answered the door. there stood your gorgeous sister, and your lovable niece. "thank you so much faith. she just ate, but if she needs something small just whip up some mac n' cheese and she'll be fine. love you, bye!" she handed lilly to you before rushing back to her car and driving off.

lilly looked at colby, and he slightly waved. "hi lilly, i'm colby." he held out his hand for her to shake, and she shyly did. "hi." you smiled at the two before running to the kitchen to make sure there's some kraft in the pantry.

finding none, you ran back to colby and whispered, "i have to go to the store to grab some stuff, i'll be back in at least thirty minutes." he looked at you with wide eyes and a pouty face. "baby no, please don't go. i don't want to mess this up." you kissed his cheek before grabbing your purse.

"you'll be fine i promise." you said before you left and headed to the store.

COLBY POV

i looked down at the little girl in front of me. she stood there quite awkwardly, while holding her little stuffed elephant. "wanna sit down and talk?" i asked, which caused her to look up at me. she smiled and nodded before walking over to the couch.

i sat down next to her and turned my body slightly towards her. she looked up at me, as if she was waiting for me to ask her a question. "so, how is school going?" i asked her kindly, but she frowned. "can i tell you a secret?" she looked up at me innocently, and i nodded my head yes.

"there's these kids at school... but they're really mean to me." her little face turned into a pout as she looked down at the stuffed animal in her lap, before continuing. "i tried to be friends with them, but they wouldn't let me. they call me names." i saw her lip quiver, and that's when i pulled her onto my lap.

"it's okay lilly. those kids are just bullies, and they're jealous of you." i gently rubbed her back as her little arms wrapped around me, and she cried into my chest. "they wish they could be you, so they make fun of you instead. i promise you that you're not any of the names they call you. okay?" i looked down at her.

she wiped her face with her small hands and nodded, smiling at me for the first time. "come on, let's get you some rest." i picked her up and carried her to mine and faith's shared bedroom. i laid down and held her close to me; while stroking her hair and shushing her gentle sobs.

YOUR POV

you opened the door and locked it again once it closed behind you. you set the bags of groceries on the counter along with your keys. you looked around, and didn't see a sign of your niece or boyfriend anywhere.

"lilly? colby?" you called out, but no answer. you walked upstairs and opened your bedroom, only to see the most precious sight. colby was holding lilly close to his body, her face was tear stained, and they were both sleeping peacefully. you smiled a little bit to yourself, but lilly started to stir.

she sat up and saw you before instantly smiling. you walked over, and carefully lifted her away from colby. you looked at her and said, "let's get you cleaned up, your cheeks are all wet." you carried her to the bathroom and sat her down on the counter. "i love uncie colby!" she yelled, and your eyes widened a little with shock.

you heard a floorboard squeak, and looked over to see your beautiful boyfriend leaning against the door frame. he had the most innocent and adorable smile placed on his face. you looked back at her, and leaned in. "let me tell you something. i love him too." you whispered in her ear, causing her to giggle a little.

you finished wiping away her tears before setting her back down and walking to the living room with her and colby. you sat down on the couch together and turned on tangled. sooner than later, lilly fell asleep in between you and colby. her head as against colby's side and her hip was pressed against yours.

colby looked over at you, and you looked over at him. "i really want to have kids with you one day." his soft, yet deep voice spoke. and it was like music to your ears. you smiled, "me too, baby. me too." you kissed him before leaning closer to him and cuddling, and before you knew it you were all sleeping peacefully.
