A Promise part 1 (Bucky Barnes)/ (Steve Rogers) bestfriend!reader

Summary: You were Bucky and Steve's best friend and later you started dating Bucky and were getting married, but after the second world war you decided to postpone it, until after. You witnessed Bucky fall off the train and thought he was dead. You were also on the plane with Steve before it crashed down. After 70 they find you and later you see Bucky but he doesn't recognize you.
Warnings: Angst, violence, fighting.

"you'll never guess what S.H.I.E.L.D just found" Tony told Steve.

"a new extraterrestrial being?" Steve guessed.

"No, come on guess. You are also allowed to guess" he told the rest of the team.

"Oh.my.god! Where is she now?" Steve was very shocked.

"Glad you asked. Come with me" Tony expressed.

"I can't believe she's alive" Steve and Tony were standing behind the glass and watched as some agents removed the ice from around you.

"A new weapon?" Nat guessed.

"Other thoughts? No? I'll give you a hint. It's a girl. Steve knows her" Tony hinted.

"Steve knows girls?" Clint asked wondering.

"No, I do not" Steve answered.

"But you knew her. Another hint, she's your friend" he gave the team another clue.

"I don't have friends, except you guys. Wait... did you say knew her? I had two friends back in the day, Bucky Barnes and y/n y/l/n. So whoever they found I don't know her" Steve informed them.

"Exactly, that's who they found" Tony said.

"What?Y/n? There's no way. When we crashed she was severely injured and dying. There's no way she survived" Steve wasn't convinced.

"Is that the same girl you're talking about?" Tony showed him a picture of you on his phone.

"So is she also righteous like you? Tony asked him.

Steve let out a small laugh "She was always a rebel. She hated rules. Yes she wanted to do the right thing, but not when the cost is too high. She'd gladly choose her friends and loved ones over the rest of the world if that's what it came down to" he told him.

"Let's hope, everything turns out fine" Tony expressed.

"Can I see her?" Steve asked the doctor.

"She's still asleep. We don't know when she'll wake up or how she'll react, but it's better if she woke up and someone she knew was next to her" the doctor explained.

"Hey, you got this cap" Tony supported him.

"What do I do?" Steve asked him.

"Just be yourself. Maybe read her a book or tell her what happened while she was gone. I heard that people can hear what's happening around them when they're in a coma" Tony suggested.

Steve sat on a chair next to you and watch as you slept.

"You have no idea how much I missed you. I thought I lost you like I lost Buck. I promise, I will protect you this time. I won't let anything happen to you, okay? I just need to to wake up. Life is different now, people are different, more complicated but they're nice. I made some new friends, can you believe that?" he chucked and told you everything about the present.

The next day he returned with your favorite book and started reading it aloud. After a week, he was telling you about his day.
"Nothing special really happened today, but thankfully no threats either. Nat asked about you. She's excited to me you. I have a feeling that you'd be best friends. She's a lot like you. You have the same spirit" he smiled.
