Training just kept getting harder and harder as the days passed, all the tributes trying to prepare themselves for their assessments, which were taking place tonight. Adrienne has to admit, her and Vern were definitely improving, but it wasn't quite where they wanted to be. Not yet, anyways.
Adrienne sat on the cold bench, bouncing her leg as she waited anxiously for her name to be called. Vern day next to her, silent as a mouse as he stared at the wall ahead of him.
"Vern Everest." The robotic voice said, causing the boy to go stiff. Taking a deep breath, he stood, giving Adrienne a small smile, before walking into the training room.
She waited for her turn to come, the only sound in the room that other the other tributes, some talking quietly to their district partner.
After a few long, agonizing minutes, the doors to the center opened and Vern walked out, a smug little smile on his face. He gave his friend a reassuring smile before making his way to the elevator, going back up to the apartment.
"Adrienne Sallow." The voice called, making the girl's heart skip a beat. She took shaky breath before pushing herself to her feet, making her way into the room.
It was set up the same way as it was during the day, except a the raised platform against the south wall that usually sat empty was now home to at least thirty Gamemakers, who were laughing and talking as they ate their fancy food.
"Adrienne Sallow." The girl spoke loudly, gaining the attention of the people. They all turned to her with curious eyes, waiting to see what she could do.
She made her way immediately over to the throwing knives, not wasting a second. The girl started flicking them at the human shaped target along the far wall, hitting them in lethal places; heart, throat, chest. When she was finished, she took a deep breath and turned to face the Gamemakers.
A man, who was clearly in charge, spoke up. "Thank you for your demonstration, Miss-"
"Oh, I'm not done." She said plainly before walking over to the table and picking up one of the lightweight spears. The girl only took a second to aim before she launched the weapon towards the target, the blade sinking into the spot right between where the silhouette's eyes would be.
Adrienne smirked, obviously proud of her work, before she playfully bowed to the Gamemakers. After standing up again, the girl turned on her heel and walked out of the center, a small skip in her step.
