It was time to board the train later that day, and Adrienne's mind was still spinning. She hadn't spoken to anyone, not even Finnick; she just locked herself away in her room, not making a sound. Even when the time came to leave, she put on a fake smile for the cameras before going right to her room on the train.
Her eyes were dry and sore. Her tears had run out. She had no energy left, not after what Snow told her. After he told her what she had to do just to keep her brothers alive. To keep Finnick alive.
As if he had read her mind, a soft knocking came at the door before the victor's voice rang out. "Addy?" He said, his tone gentle and soft. "Adrienne, let me in. Please."
Sighing softly, the girl reached over and pressed a button on the wall, opening the door on the other side of the room. Right behind it stood Finnick, who was wearing a baggy, grey nightshirt and black jeans. His hair was a mess, like he had been running his fingers repeatedly through it.
The boy slowly walked over and sat down next to her. The girl didn't look at him, just kept her eyes trained on the outside world that was flashing by. The two sat in silence, neither quite knowing how to start a conversation with the other.
"What did Snow want to talk to you about?" Finnick asked, though he already knew; he had gone through the same thing after his games. He was still going through it. He was still Snow's puppet.
"I don't want to talk about it." She said coldly. The girl hated how harsh she was being towards the boy, but she knew it was the only way to avoid having her emotions bubble up to the surface. She had cried enough.
"He made you the deal, didn't he?"
Adrienne turned her head in his direction, only to see him looking down at his own hands. He was playing with a silver ring that was slipped around his finger, the metal resembling waves with a trident carved into them.
"How did you-"
"I'm not a player." He interrupted her, his voice soft. "I try to come off as this flirty guy who has nothing but charm, but it's an act that I've had to put on for so long that it became natural to me." The boy finally looked up, his blue eyes burning into Adrienne's. "It's been five years, and I've just had to live with it."
"Finn..." She said softly, reaching over and placing her hands over his, holding them tightly. "I'm so sorry."
The boy gave a small and grateful smile before holding her hands in return. "I'm fine. Believe me, I am. Hopefully now Snow will ease up on my Capital visits. You know, now that we've kind of announced us to all of Panem."
She nodded slowly. But knowing Snow, he would do everything in his power to keep the two victors apart. He would make up some story saying how the two weren't together anymore, just to be able to use them as pawns again.
Her thoughts seemed to spiral downwards until only one stayed. Adrienne had never been with anyone before, and now she would be given away to some stranger. Finnick seemed to sense her worry and looked at her. "Hey, what's wrong?"
The blonde girl looked up into his eyes, seeing the passion and love behind the ocean of blue. Not thinking twice, she put her hand on the back of his neck and pulled his lips down to hers in a heated kiss. Finnick didn't think anything of it, just a kiss, until the girl had moved so she was sitting on his legs, theirs chests basically pressed together.
He took a breath before pulling back, furrowing his brows as he looked into Adrienne's eyes. "What are you-"
"I don't want my first time to be with a stranger. I want it to be with someone I care about." She said softly before placing her hands on the boy's cheeks. "I want it to be with you, Finn."
The victor smiled as he leaned forwards and kissed her again, the smile evident on his face. The two soon found themselves entangled in a loving bliss, one neither of them ever wanted to end.

She woke up in his loose embrace, his arm draped over her bare waist as he slept on his stomach. Adrienne smiled at him before moving his arm, careful not to wake him. The girl placed a gentle kiss to his temple before standing up, making her way to the large wall of glass windows. The train was still moving, the coastline now in view as the sun dipped below it.
The blonde was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't hear when the boy had woken up, pacing around the room, until she felt a warm body behind her. Finnick wrapped his arms around her stomach, pressing his toned chest against her bare back and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Did you sleep well?" He asked as the two looked out at the horizon.
"Well, yes, but there wasn't much sleeping going on." She said jokingly, causing the boy to chuckle lightly.
Her mind was spinning, thinking on just how her future would be different than her past. In many more ways than just one.
"I love you." She whispered, the words only meant for the blonde boy to hear.
"I love you, too." Finnick whispered back, causing warmth to flow through the girl's body and a blush to come to her cheeks.
She turned towards him, placing a gentle kiss to his cheek before facing forwards again. In the far distance, she could see the outskirts of District Four. Of her home.
"Things are gonna be different now, aren't they?" She questioned out loud.
This earned a chuckled from Finnick. "Oh yeah. A lot different."
