A bright and harsh light hit her eyes as a door above her opened, causing the girl to have to close her eyes to avoid behind blinded. The platform stopped suddenly and Adrienne allowed herself to peel open her eyes, taking in her surroundings.

They were in a giant field, with the long grass blowing slightly in the wind. The greenery grew tall, reaching maybe six feet or so off the ground.

All around her, Adrienne could see the other twenty four tributes, the closest ones about five yards or so on either side of her, though she could only see their crowns of their heads over the field.

She focused forwards again, where the giant metal cornucopia stood in all its glory, its contents a mystery, hidden by the tall grass. She knew Finnick would shame her for going in there, but she wanted to get something. She needed to.

"Welcome everyone." A voice echoed throughout the arena, scaring the living daylights out of Adrienne. "To the 70th Hunger Games. And may the odds be ever in your favor."

Then, the countdown began, starting at thirty and working its way down. The smaller the number got, the more Adrienne's nerves grew. This was when her life of death situation began, her odds shifting more towards the latter.

And then came the sound Adrienne would never forget; the sound of a cannon.
