The sky soon started to go dark as the night fell. Adrienne soon got up and started walking around, trying to find a place to sleep for the night. After a few minutes of coming up empty handed, she decided to climb a tall tree next to her, burying her bags in a giant bush at the base of it.
Taking only a rope and a handful of peanuts, she started to climb. She climbed so high that she could barely see her bags down below and decided to stop. The girl tied her rope tightly around her legs, ensuring her safety as she slept.
I'm the distance, through the leaves, she could see the metal cornucopia glistening from the setting sun in the distance, probably close to three or four miles away now. Behind it were tall mountains, cover the other wall of the arena.
But what caught Adrienne's attention the most was the tall, concrete dam just past the cornucopia. The girl was surprised she hadn't seen it before, seeing as it was so hard to miss. But if there was a dam, that meant there was water near it somewhere.
Making a clear decision, the blonde closed her eyes, leaning her head back. She wasn't able to fall asleep before the Capital theme played loudly throughout the arena.
Confused, she looked around before a bright blue light came from the sky. She looked up and saw the face of a District Three tribute being displayed on the arena; they were showing the deaths.
She watched silently as she counted the number of tributes in her head. There were nine dead already; both from Three, the boy from Five, the boy from Seven, both from Eight, the girls from Nine and Ten, and the boy from Twelve.
Good. She thought. Vern is still out there somewhere.
The hologram then disappeared, leaving the sky back to its normal dark, navy blue color. The girl sighed and leaned her head back, wanting to get some sleep before she headed out for what could possibly be her stupidest plan ever.
She was unarmed and alone. And she was going to travel across the entire arena.
To the dam.
