8: Broken Promises & Goodbyes

"Now that that's over, it's your turn Y/n. Are you ready?" He slides his hands from your shoulders, down to your upper arms, and he caresses them with the tips of his fingers.

Uncomfortable and unsure of how to respond you stay silent and stare at him. B/f warned you not to show your stand, but that's most likely what he was going to ask for. Angered by your silence, he squeezes your arms, tight. You let out a hiss in pain, much to DIO's satisfaction.

"Don't make me repeat myself," he warns.

You nod your head hoping to get him off your back, but it seems he wants a verbal confirmation. He squeezes even tighter and this time you let out a small cry since he was digging his damn nails into your skin.

"Hey, that hurts you bastard! I get it already! I'm ready! What do you want from me, a performance and a blimp?" You yell and attempt to pull your arms away from his grasp. DIO's face grows into one of amusement. It appeared he didn't know whether to punish you for your outbreak or praise you for your bravery for speaking to him in such a manner.

"I think the first step in your training is for you to learn how to address me. I'm not your inferior and I'm also not your equal. You shall either refer to me as Lord DIO or Master. A superior being such as myself should be addressed as so, by someone like you. What do you have to say to that Y/n?" He lets go of your arms and crosses his own in front of his chest and gives you a Cheshire Cat smile.

'Oh ho. He's really testing me now. He's trying to get me to succumb, but he's also testing to see how far he and I can take this. Game on DIO.'

You bring your fingers up to your chin as if you were really thinking hard and then look DIO straight in the eyes.

"Well if you're really asking me for my honest opinion, then I think it's a bunch of bologna. I tend to follow my gut and instincts and that's pretty much it, but if you want me to be a brain-dead follower like the rest of your servants you're gonna have to straight-up tell me, DIO. Ah, excuse me, I mean LORD DIO." You use air quotes and exaggerate lord to get your point across. While you maintained eye contact with him as you spoke your defiance really shined through your cold exterior towards him.

DIO is somewhat shocked by your response, not only did you indirectly question his authority, but your tone of voice also exuded even more defiance than before. "Now that's an interesting response. Most people would never dare think about talking to me the way you do. You're not exactly what I expected."

"Well... I don't know who you're referring to, but I'm most certainly not most people, but I'm not really special either. I just tend to follow my own path."

"That's was obvious from the start," DIO says, amused by your response. "But depending on your reasoning you're either extremely ignorant and naive, or very intelligent and independent. I wonder which you are?"

You roll your eyes. He clearly wanted you to elaborate further so he could determine himself which of the two you were and it irritates you. You see the corners of his mouth twitch and he abruptly grabs your face with one hand and pulls you towards him and he slight bends his tall frame down to meet you face to face. His red hues find yours and is if in a trance you're left staring at him like a deer in headlights. You hadn't anticipated the suddenness of his actions and it leaves you feeling anxious and vulnerable.

"My dearest Y/n... that was quite a rude thing to do. You should either maintain eye contact with me or cast your eyes down at the floor. I'll permit you to do either but choose one if you wish to keep those pretty eyes of yours in your head," he says with a devilish smile. It was yet another challenge he gave you though it was subtle. You squint your eyes but choose to keep eye contact with him.
