Chapter 11

A week had passed and things had seemingly calmed down between the boys. It calmed your SOUL a little that they were starting to get along again – though there was still the occasional sharp look or snappy comment when one of them tried to grab your attention. You simply ruled it off, not being fussed as long as they weren't going for each other's throats.

"Heya Sunshine~" you chimed teasingly as you walked in on Dream reading a book in the library. He jumped slightly, being startled out of whatever world he had enwrapped himself in and snapped his skull up to face you.

"Ah, jeez (y/n). You tryna give me a heart attack?" he gasped out dramatically, placing a hand atop his chest. You giggled at his over-the-top reaction and came to sit next to him.

"Sorry not sorry Dream, you're way too easy to scare!" you chirped making the positive Spirit pout childishly. "Also, you don't have a heart... you're a skeleton," you added on as an afterthought, gently flicking his nasal bridge. He scrunched it up at the contact, earning a laugh from you. He simply rolled his eye lights at your playful advances and picked his book back up.

"Uh-huh, okay little miss know-it-all – any other shocking revelations you wanna lay upon me? Or did you actually come here for a specific reason?" he said in an uncaring tone, but the mischievous flicker in his eye lights easily gave him away. You snickered, scooting closer to him.

"I'm bored..." you whine flopping down so your head was resting on his lap. You felt him tense up beneath you, clearly unsure of what to do. He cleared his throat as a bright golden blush enveloped his skull, desperately attempting to hide it behind his book.

"O-Okay, you... you wanna do something?" he managed to stutter out making you perk up and nod happily, sitting yourself back up. He sighed in what seemed to be relief as you removed yourself from him, his blush now only a dusting on his cheekbones. "The meadow's quite nice at this time of year. Do you maybe, want to go on a walk there?" he proposed placing his book down on a table before standing up. You nodded as a reply and stood up as well, accepting his extended hand and walking out of the library with him.

You reached the meadow fairly quickly and started to walk in a comfortable silence, hand-in-hand. Dream had a peaceful smile on his face that made your chest flutter.

'He looks so cute!' You grinned at the thought, turning to face forwards once more. You then gasped, releasing Dream's hand and racing forwards earning a startled yelp from your skeletal companion.

You had seen a spot on the meadow that was surrounded by a circle trees - you're curiosity got the better of you and you hastily found your way into the center, eyes widening at the sight. It was like a whole separate meadow, though smaller, and was bursting with all kinds of different flowers and plant life. It was... breathtaking, to say the least. A worried shout brought you out of your trance and you turned around to see Dream stumbling into the clearing as well.

"(y/n)! Don't run off like that!" he scolded you but you simply shrugged it off, sitting down among all the flowers to admire them. Your legs disappeared amongst the plants, with them coming up to around your hips.

"I didn't mean to scare you Dream, but look, isn't it beautiful?" you asked him softly, gesturing to the array of floristry surrounding you. Dream seemed to only just realize the beauty of the clearing at your say, his frown morphing into an expression of wonder.

"Wow..." he breathed taking in the view with starry eye lights. You giggled at his awe-struck expression and plucked a few of the flowers from the ground, beginning to twist and weave them together to make a flower crown. Dream caught on to your actions and gingerly came to sit beside you, content with watching you finish your 'project'. He admired the smile that blossomed on your face as you sat playing with the flowers. Your smile was one of the prettiest things about you - so full of life and adoration - he wanted you to be happy at all times, just so he could see you smile. Though he knew that that was theoretically impossible, Dream couldn't help but wish to be the one to do that - to make you happy, always. He was brought out of his fantasy as he felt you remove his crown from his skull, making him blink at you in confusion. "Huh, (y/n)? What are you-?"

You cut the skeleton off by placing the completed flower crown on top of his skull. He gave you a dazed stare before seeming to come back to reality and smiling. You automatically smiled back and handed his actual crown back to him.

"You look really cute with that, y'know?" you told him out of the blue. Dream's eye sockets widened a fraction at your words, his smile turning into a grin. He glanced down at the golden crown he held in his hands before perking up as he got an idea and leaning towards you. You tilted your head in confusion but smiled knowingly as he placed his crown on your head.

"And you look really cute with that~!" he chimed happily, closing his eye sockets as he gave you a warm smile. You couldn't help but laugh at the skeleton's actions and brought him into a hug, his skull resting on your shoulder. He let out a contented hum as he wrapped his arms around you, returning your affection. You pulled back after a minute or so and softly tapped him on his nasal bridge.

"We should probably be getting back," you told him making him whine in protest. You rolled your eyes playfully and stood up, bringing him up with you. "We can come back here another time though! And let's keep it between us - it can be our secret place!" you attempted to encourage him and grinned as his excitement returned almost immediately.

"Yes! I'd love that (n/n)!" he cheered, eye lights flashing to stars as he clasped your hands in his own. You gave him a warm smile, nodding your head in affirmation.

"Alright then, our secret~"

We're back to the fluff for a lil bit! I figured you guys wouldn't mind a little bit of cuteness after the last coupla chapters XD I tried to make Dream as adorable as possible for all you fangirls~ Don't get too used to it though - I've still got plans ;) - Fandom Trash
