It had been at least a month since the incident with the Shattered Sanses and to say the boys were more protective if you now would be a drastic understatement. They practically mother-henned you to the point that even going to the bathroom without one of them there to watch over you became a challenge. As much as you tried to reassure them, they seemed to be glued to your side... mostly. Of course, they still cared about your privacy and wanted you to feel comfortable so there were certain moments when they'd back off; that didn't make the time they'd cling to you any more tiring though.

You couldn't help but sigh a little, feeling rundown - not just from the boys' antics but the fact that now you'd be monitoring all of their actions like a hawk, trying to decipher if it really was them or the Shattered Sanses come to attempt to take you away again. You couldn't lie, you felt a bit on-edge yourself. Of course, you tried not to let the boys know; you didn't want them to worry about you more.

"(Y/n), everything okay?"

You yelped as a voice resounded from your side, instinctively swinging round and connecting your hand with the speakers cheek. You cursed at the solid feeling that caused your hand to sting, barely registering the surprised squeak and a thud as the speaker lost their balance and fell to the ground. You shook your hand off to minimize the stinging sensation and glanced down at the person you had just smacked.

Dream sat there with an immensely confused expression, rubbing at a light red mark on his cheekbone. You blinked before gasping, covering your mouth in shock.

"Oh God Dream. I-I-I... Shit, I'm so sorry!" You said, quickly getting down and cupping his face. "I didn't hurt you too bad did I? Oh God, I'm such an ass I-!"

"(Y/n) it's okay! You were tense and I shouldn't have startled you like that. I'm fine, trust me," Dream interrupted your rambling, softly placing his hands over yours. You shook your head profusely, your eyes watering from guilt. Dream took note of this and smiled sympathetically, moving his hands from his face to yours to wipe away the tears before they could fall. "Is everything okay?"

You took in a deep breath and stood yourself up, leaving a confused Dream on the ground as you wrapped your arms around yourself.

"In all honesty, I'm not too sure. Everything's been so... weird lately. I mean, three friends from my childhood that I had completely forgotten about just show up randomly, give me back memories I didn't know I even had, take me to a castle where I have to stay, then three alternate versions show up and kidnap me - with one of them releasing me and, and, and-"

You froze as you felt two arms wrap around your middle. You were pulled against a firm chest in a secure hold which made you instantly melt in relaxation. Dream shushed you, letting his aura envelop you as you whimpered weakly in his arms.

"Don't overthink all of this. I know it's been hard, but we can get through this. I'll help you every step of the way. I'll... I'll do whatever I can to make you feel better - and that's a promise," he said softly. Your breathing slowed as you lent back into his embrace. You lifted your hands up to clasp his, shivering slightly at the feeling of his warm breath on your neck.

"Dream, I... Thank you," you said breathily, smiling as you heard him chuckle, his chest vibrating against your back.

"No problem. Anything for you." You could feel your face flush at his words, darkening as he tilted his skull up to peck your cheek. He nuzzled into your neck and you giggled as he hit a particularly sensitive spot. Dream paused for a minute before snickering and going for it again. You squealed, desperately trying to move away as he attacked your soft spot.

"D-Dream, s-stop please!" You laughed as you tried to push him off you. He laughed along with you, his eye lights shining with tears of mirth from his euphoria.

"But your laugh sounds so cute!" He chimed giving you a wide grin. You couldn't help but smile back, playfully rolling your eyes.

"Yeah yeah, yeah, quit teasing me. I feel better now!" You said as you finally managed to break from his hold, giving him one last smile before walking away. You heard him chuckle as you rounded a corner making your smile widen. He really was a sweetheart.

Dream's reassurances lifted your spirits immensely, making all of your previous worries seem immature. You could feel your SOUL fluttering in your chest as you remembered the feeling of Dream's arms around you.
