Chapter 29 ~Ink Ending~

Nightmare explained his plan to you and you eagerly nodded in agreement. He gave you an approving smile and patted your shoulder before leaving the library to go get the others. He stopped by the door and turned around to give you one last look.

"He'll show his love in his own way, just give him time."

You smiled sadly as Nightmare left the room, sitting down to await the trio.

It thankfully didn't take too long and they all stood in front of you with curious expressions.

"(y/n), Nightmare said you had something to talk to us about?" Ink said and you nodded, clearing your throat before you began talking.

"Actually, I only wanted to talk with two of you." You looked into Ink's eye sockets, "Ink, could you give me a few minutes with Dream and Blue please?"

The three looked between each other, surprised at your sudden statement but Ink eventually agreed, nodding his head and leaving the library. You couldn't help but feel slightly guilty as you saw the crushed look on his face - he must've thought you were rejecting him...

You took in a deep breath before standing up, fixing the two remaining skeletons with a calm gaze.

"I wanted to let the both of you know how much I care about you. You've all shown me so much love and kindness since the day we met." You looked into each of their eye lights to assure you had their full attention. "Dream, you are so positive and kind. I know I can always turn to you if I'm having a bad day. I love how supportive you are of me and others, you're a great role-model for the people of your AU." You saw their faces fall as they realized what was happening but stayed quiet and respected your decision. This put a small smile on your face as you turned to Blue. "Blueberry, you are the sweetest, most adorable skeleton I have ever met! I always love the time we spend together; I love training with you. You have great potential Blue, never change."

You brought the two of them into a hug after you had finished talking, pulling back to officially tell them your final decision.

"I'm in love with Ink, and I'm gonna tell him."

You found Ink in his bedroom, sitting on his bed as he sketched something in a notebook. A gentle smile crossed your face as you watched him.

"Heya Inky," you said making your presence known as you lightly rapped your knuckles against the wooden door. He slowly looked up at you and a shocked expression appeared on his face before it morphed into a smile and he stood up to greet you.

"(y/n), what are you doing here?" he said, tilting his skull to the side in confusion. You let out a near silent giggle at his strangely adorable clueless expression.

"I just came to ask if you'd like to go out with me this evening?" you asked and your smile brightened at the spark that lit up in his eye lights.

"Yeah, of course! I'd love to!" he said energetically, his eye lights morphing frantically in his excitement. You nodded in acknowledgment.

"Great, it's a date then. Meet me in the field in an hour," you said giving him a quick wave before heading to your room to get yourself ready.

The two of you met up as planned and you gently took Ink's hand in yours as you led him towards the surprise you had set up. You loved the overjoyed look that crossed his face as you showed him the art suppiles you had set up - a beautiful view on the horizon.

"Oh wow! This is..." Ink trailed off, snapping his mouth shut as he tried not to get too excited. You couldn't help but laugh at his reaction, walking over to show off what you had set up.

"I figured we could paint together, like we did when I first came back to the castle?" Ink nodded energetically at your offer, quickly coming to your side to stand by the easel. You could practically hear the cogs turning in his mind as he sorted through the varieties of colors and brushes you had brought out with you.

A peaceful silence fell between the two of you as you painted the nighttime view of the field, capturing every speck of starlight and burst of color from the flowers hidden amongst the tall grass. The two of you finished sooner than expected and resorted to sitting down in the field, your head resting against Ink's sternum as he cuddled you close, a content sigh leaving him.

"This is perfect," you said softly, nuzzling into the fabric of Ink's scarf. The artist let out a nervous laugh, cupping your chin to tilt your head up as a light blush blossomed on his cheekbones.

"It uh... could get better," he said making you quirk an eyebrow in question.

"Really? Ho-"

You weren't able to finish as Ink quickly leaned forward to press a loving kiss against your lips. You eagerly accepted wrapping your arms around his neck as you kissed him back, feeling his hands shyly cradle your hips. You made the kiss last a few more seconds before reluctantly pulling back for air. The dazed expression Ink was giving you put a warm smile on your face, his whole skull glowing bright with his rainbow blush.

"Should we get back to the castle?" you said noting how the skeleton before you was struggling to keep his eye sockets open. He didn't fight your offer, simply nodding his skull. You giggled as he attempted to stifle a yawn and helped him to his feet, beginning to walk back with him to his room. Though you couldn't help but notice the addition to the painting as you walked past. Ink seemed to have painted in the two of cuddling in the grass without you noticing. You felt your SOUL flutter in your chest at the gesture, reaching over to take Ink's hands in yours and pecking his cheekbone in thanks.

The two of you ended up cuddling in his bed, with him acting as the little spoon as you nuzzled lovingly into the back of his vertebrae.

"I love you," Ink mumbled tiredly, his hands reaching up to be placed over yours before his breathing evened out and he fell asleep. Your cheeks flushed at the confession.

"I love you too, Inky~"
