Chapter 29 ~Blue Ending~

Nightmare explained his plan to you and you eagerly nodded in agreement. He gave you an approving smile and patted your shoulder before leaving the library to go get the others. He stopped by the door and turned around to give you one last look.

"Be sure to drag him down if he drifts too far~"

You smiled sadly as Nightmare left the room, sitting down to await the trio.

It thankfully didn't take too long and they all stood in front of you with curious expressions.

"(y/n), Nightmare said you had something to talk to us about?" Ink said and you nodded, clearing your throat before you began talking.

"Actually, I only wanted to talk with two of you." You looked over at Blue, "Blueberry, could you give me a few minutes with Dream and Ink please?"

The three looked between each other, surprised at your sudden statement but Blue eventually agreed, nodding his head and leaving the library. You couldn't help but feel slightly guilty as you saw the crushed look on his face - he must've thought you were rejecting him...

You took in a deep breath before standing up, fixing the two remaining skeletons with a calm gaze.

"I wanted to let the both of you know how much I care about you. You've all shown me so much love and kindness since the day we met." You looked into each of their eye lights to assure you had their full attention. "Dream, you are so positive and kind. I know I can always turn to you if I'm having a bad day. I love how supportive you are of me and others, you're a great role-model for the people of your AU." You saw their faces fall as they realized what was happening but stayed quiet and respected your decision. This put a small smile on your face as you turned to Ink. "Ink, you are such a hard worker and I love seeing all of your artwork. Even with a scatterbrain like yours, you remember things about me that sometimes even I forget! I can admire that. Just... don't work yourself too hard."

You brought the two of them into a hug after you had finished talking, pulling back to officially tell them your final decision.

"I'm in love with Blueberry, and I'm gonna tell him."

You walked into the kitchen, seeing Blue sitting at the table looking defeated. A sympathetic smile crossed your face as you walked over and sat down next to him.

"Heya Blueberry," you said softly, lifting a hand up to stroke his skull. He tensed at your touch, eye lights darting over to you. They dilated before flickering and turning into a tear-drop shape.

"Hi... (y/n)," he said slowly, causing you to cease you petting and return your hands to your lap.

"Would you like to go somewhere Blue?" He perked up at your question a small smile beginning to cross his face once he saw you were serious. He nodded eagerly, reaching over to grab your hand and give it a light squeeze.

"Yes! Absolutely! Where do you wanna go?"

A few moments later the two of you were in the Waterfall of his AU, walking through a field of echo flowers. The blue glow they let off create a soothing atmosphere as you wandered hand-in-hand. You soon reached a clearing and your eyes lit up as you led Blue towards it.

"Ooh, isn't it so pretty here?" you said excitedly, pulling him down to sit with you in the dewey grass. He let out a near silent chuckle as he reached over to wrap his arm around your shoulders. You moved so your head was leaning against his chest, giving out a hum of content.

The two of you sat there in relative silence for the most part until Blue hummed, removing himself from you and standing up. He began to walk away, turning around simply to tell you to stay put before scurrying off to who-knows-where. Before you could question his sudden disappearance he was back, holding one of the echo flowers from before. He smiled wide as he handed it to you.

"Listen to it," he said hurriedly, making you smile as you reached out to touch the petals. Blue's voice drifted out in a soothing tone, causing a blush to arise on your cheeks at the message it held.

"I love you (y/n)!"

You looked up at the small skeleton, seeing him shuffling awkwardly in place with bright blue cheekbones. He seemed nervous as he looked down at you with a lopsided grin. A fluttery giggle left you as you stood up and came towards him.

"I love you too, my magnificent Blueberry~" you chimed, leaning down to kiss the top of his skull. He squealed at the feeling of your lips, standing on his tiptoes to wrap his arms around your neck.

"You mean it?" he said energetically, his eye lights sparking as they flashed to stars. You simply smiled and nodded, leaning down once more to this time capture his lips.

Blue melted into the kiss, practically becoming putty in your hands as he hummed happily. His hands played with your hair as yours cupped his warm cheekbones. It was perfect. Everything you could have asked for.

You unfortunately had to pull back once you felt yourself begin to run out of air but it was made worth it as you saw Blue's half-lidded gaze. You smiled at his dazed expression, planting another quick kiss on his lips before suggesting that the two of you head back. You made sure to grab the echo flower before Blue teleported the two of you into his room...

...where you spent the rest of the night cuddled under the blankets, stealing kisses and whispering sweet nothings to one another.
