The sound of your footsteps were all you could hear as you walked along the moonlit pavement. Apart from the occasional car racing past, the only light you had to guide you were the stars that twinkled dimly in the ebony sky. It was late enough for all the shops to have the closed sign propped up or flashing in the windows. You let out a quick sigh and continued your walk.
The grip on your grocery bag became tighter.'My fault for leaving this so late... Me and my bad memory,' You told yourself, clutching the material of your shirt with your free hand.
You had expected to make it home safe and make a nice dinner for yourself, maybe even treat yourself with some (favourite dessert) later that night. What you weren't expecting was for a hand to come out of nowhere and grab you off the street, dragging you into a pitch black alleyway.
Before you could make any noise of protest, the figure holding you clamped a hand across your mouth so only a struggled 'hmph' sound came out. Your wide eyes searched for your potential kidnapper and you realized that they are with two other people. You couldn't quite make out the trio in the darkness of the alley, which did nothing to calm your alarmingly high nerves.
The middle figure - the one holding you - pulled you slightly closer to their form and whispered a hurried warning. The only part you managed to make put was brother and destroy.
You nodded in understanding, getting the hint that you needed to stay quiet. Not long after the warning, two skeletons walked in front of the alley's opening - one glitched with ERROR messages floating around them and their bones all black apart from their fingertips and legs - the other was covered in a black, tar like substance with six threatening looking tentacles sprouting from their back.
You would've screamed but knew that it wouldn't have been a wise choice (not that you could scream either way, with a hand clamped firmly over your mouth).
You could barely hear a glitched out voice and a demonically low one as the two skeletons disappear from view and hearing range. As soon as the silence falls, the figure holding you sighed and removed their hand from your mouth. Before you had time to react or try and take a look at who the figures were, one of them gripped your wrist and teleported you to your room. You blinked in slight confusion but then noticed that the three figures were also skeletons, but much different from the ones you had seen in the alley.
The tallest one had a long brown scarf wrapped snugly around his neck, it went down near his ankles and faded into a much lighter brown near the bottom. He also wore a brown t-shirt and shorts with a black under-layer that had blue designs on it. He had brown fingerless gloves on his hands and honestly pretty cool looking tiger-striped sneakers. He also seemed to have a... giant paintbrush on his back attached to a sash that went vertically across his chest - the sash also carried tiny vials of paint on the front. Obviously he was an artist of some kind, shown by the small splatter of ink on his right cheekbone.
The shortest one was wearing a sleeveless grey shirt with a white t-shirt underneath, along with grey shoulder pads with a baby blue outlining. He wore trousers with a slightly faded blue tinge to them and matching blue boots and gloves. He also had a bright blue scarf tied around his neck that flowed into a small sort of cape, completely putting the cherry on his adorable get-up.
Finally, you turned to the middle one after examining the other two and raised an eyebrow as you saw that he had gotten your back pack and was hastily cramming your belongings into it.He was wearing a golden crown along his cranium and, like the artist skeleton, had a black under-layer. Although his had no designs on it and was covered by a pale yellow coat with tips of cyan. He had a cyan belt around his waist that sported a buckle with the letters DS imprinted and yellow gloves and boots with smaller versions of the cyan belt around the tops. Like the other two he had a scarf, only his was golden and seemed to be a lot more like a cape that had been destroyed in a fight or something. You couldn't help but feel slightly concerned as you noticed that he had a bow and some luminescent blue arrows strapped to his back.
After a few seconds of staring aimlessly at the trio, you decided to speak up.
"What... Where... Who?" You began, not really knowing which question to start with. The golden one smiled sympathetically, pointing a phalange towards himself.
"Dream," he said and pointed at the artist."Ink," he continued and pointed at the short one."Blue," he finished and continued to shove stuff into your back pack before handing it to you.
"Wait I met you guys like 7 minutes ago, I barely know your names, and now your asking me to move?" You asked with wide eyes. Dream blinked before seeming to realize something and placing a hand against his skull.
"Right, I forgot you probably wouldn't remember us." You raised an eyebrow as he said this.
"Um... Pardon?" You questioned and this time, Ink spoke up.
"Let's give her the memories."
"Memories? What memories?"
"The ones from when you were a child. You have amnesia, remember?"
"How could you possibly-"
"Hold out your SOUL." You returned your attention back to Dream as he said this, stopping your conversation with Ink. You locked your eyes with him.
"My, my what?" He looked at you in surprise before his expression turned sullen.
"Doesn't even remember magic..." he mumbled to himself and Ink sighed slightly, rolling his eye lights.
"I've got this," he said confidently and before you could resist he placed a hand atop your chest and made a grabbing motion as he pulled back, bringing out a small cartoonish heart that hovered just above his palm. The heart seemed to flash with different colours catching your interest immediately.
"Damn," Dream muttered under his breath. Ink shot him a dirty look before turning his skull to face Blue and nodding swiftly.
"Right, right," Blue said hurriedly as he pulled out a small yellow vial of... something from his back pocket. He came over to you and carefully cupped your SOUL in a gloved hand."Just... try not to scream."
Before you could react he poured the sickly yellow liquid onto your SOUL. You grit your teeth and bit your lower lip. You even clenched your fists in a desperate attempt to not scream out in pain. You closed your eyes to remove the worrying sight of your SOUL bubbling from your view.
The pain stopped as suddenly as it had started and you opened your eyes with a gasp as a sudden rush of memories flew through your head. You gazed at the trio in a new light, taking in their now familiar faces.
"Dream? Ink? Blueberry?"They all smiled warmly at you.
"She remembers."
