Present YearShe sighed heavily as she walked through the door to her apartment; after yet another, endless, exhausting, difficult day. She immediately threw her things on the floor and slipped her shoes off.
She walked directly to her bedroom and changed into some more comfortable clothes, before making her way over to the bay window in her room.
She looked out at the peaceful, dark night sky. She stared intently at the stars, searching for the brightest one, which lit up the night sky. She soon found it, and focused on it, taking a long, deep breath.

1941Exhausted and extremely irritated, he entered his bedroom before slamming the door shut behind him. Today was long, terrible, and disastrous. Just like every other day for the past year.
He walked over to his bed and collapsed on the mattress, he was not in the mood to do anything or speak with anyone.
He laid there, staring aimlessly at the ceiling for a couple of minutes, before he remembered something.
The one person he did want to talk to, more than anyone. The person who could always make him feel better after a hard day. The person he was in the mood to see, but unfortunately could not.
He sat up and walked over to the window, pulling up a chair. He sighed as he sat down, looking up at the night sky.
He searched for the brightest star, soon finding it. After a few seconds of focusing on it he smiled slightly.
"Hey." He said, smiling the slightest bit more.

"Hi." She said, forcing her best smile, eyes still glued on the brightest shining star in the sky.
"Well, today sucked." She said with a sigh, her voice tight. "You remember how I told you about that super important audition with the amazing opportunity? Yeah, I completely tanked it. I barely got out a sentence before the director called 'next!' Anyway, I have another audition tomorrow, so hopefully it goes better."
She looked at the ground and sighed. Tears filled her eyes as she thought about the current state her life was in.
She looked back out the window at the brightest star, trying her hardest to keep the tears at bay.
"It hasn't been easy." She said.
"I knew this would be difficult, but I didn't think it would feel impossible! I mean I move four states away, eventually making it to Las Angelas. I rent an apartment, I find an agent, I go to tons of auditions...and I haven't received a single callback. I've been out here for an entire year and I have nothing to show for it. "
At this point she could no longer compose herself and allowed the tears to fall. She wiped them away as she sniffled, never once removing her gaze from the star.
