"I knew it." Abby breathed. "The second I saw her I knew she was up to no good. Then I looked at her, I mean really looked at her. Her skin tone, her hair, the shape of her body, her face, it all screamed The White Witch. And when I looked into her eyes."
Abby swallowed hard before continuing. "They were evil to the core, and it shown through like the sun. They were dark and cold, icy." She nodded. "That's when I knew she was evil, and must be related to Jadis."
Edmund looked at her with sad eyes. "I am so sorry she did this to you. It makes me so angry! You didn't deserve any of it."
"It's not your fault Edmund." Abby said, placing a hand on his shoulder, smiling slightly.
Edmund exhaled slowly before squeezing her hand.
"I am curious about one thing though?" Abby said.
"What's that?" Edmund said slowly.
"Why did you leave out the part about her wanting to kill me too?"
Edmund's eyes widened slightly.
"What?!" Anna shouted.
"Kill you?!" Sydni said as her eyes became as wide as saucers.
Abby sighed, glancing at her friends before looking back at Edmund.
"Where on earth did you hear that?" He asked.
"Alaska." Abby said simply.
"What did she say?"
"Whenever you broke her heart, she vowed to kill...you, and me. Because without a wife, you never would have broken her heart."
"Wait." Lucy said. "She is the daughter of Jadis. The woman who tortured and almost killed him. Edmund would never even consider dating her daughter."
"No." Edmund said. "I wouldn't have. In the beginning, I told her I was married, we could never be together. She must think, if I was never married, we would have a had a chance in the beginning."
"So basically-" Abby began "-Edmund is the one who broke her heart, but he broke it because of me."
Edmund's head snapped up to look at her. "Don't you dare blame yourself for this Abby."
Abby sighed as she looked at the ground. "If we never got married then-"
"No!" Edmund quickly cut her. "This is not your fault. I wrote letters to Alaska. I broke her heart. She chose to seek out revenge. Not you. Okay?"
Abby stared at him for a moment before sighing and slowly nodding. "Why didn't you tell me?" She asked a moment later. "About her wanting to k-kill...me?"
Edmund sighed. "I'm sorry, I just- I didn't want to scare you. I want you to feel safe, and protected. You're kind of caught in the middle of a situation that -as I said a moment ago- isn't your fault."
Abby sighed slightly, deciding to keep quiet about that last part. Then she smiled slightly. "I can handle it." She said bravely. "If my life is in danger, I need to know. I think it's more dangerous for me not to know."
"You're right." Edmund breathed. "I'm sorry. I promise to tell you next time."
"Good." Abby replied with a smile. "All is forgiven."
Edmund smiled and gave her a small peck on the lips.
"I have a question, Ed." Sydni said a moment later.
"Yeah?"
"You said Alaska promised to kill you?"
Edmund slowly nodded.
"Well, if she is the daughter of Jadis I imagine she is powerful and very evil. Someone who gets what she wants. So, how did you survive?"
Abby looked up at Edmund. "Yeah, Ed." She said. "And what happened after you received the letter?"
Edmund swallowed hard as he looked at Abby. He slowly closed his eyes, remembering past events he wished to forget. He didn't open them until about two minutes later.
"I can't do this right now." He said, standing up quickly.
"Edmund?" Abby asked, going to stand, but Edmund stopped her before she could.
"No. I need to be alone. I - I'm sorry." With that he walked far down the beach. Out of hearing, and speaking distance from the others.
They sadly watched him leave, Abby watched for a full three minutes before eventually turning back to the others.
Abby couldn't help the curiosity she felt. She had to know what happened with Edmund, and how he was still alive. Of course she was mostly just happy that he was alive. But she needed to know how, and what he went through, so she could help him. She loved him, and needed his whole story.
Abby looked at the rest of the Pevensies, curiosity filling her eyes. "What happened?"
The three of them hesitantly looked at each other. But not before Sydni caught something in Peter's eyes. A wave of sadness, and worry flashed through them. It only lasted a second, but that was exactly long enough for her to notice.
After looking at Peter, Sydni looked at Abby. She could see the emotions that filled her friends heart, all hiding in her eyes. She was curious, she was scared, sad, and filled with love. Love for Edmund. In her eyes, it was obvious that she needed to know what happened to the love of her life. What he went through.
At seeing her friends emotions, Sydni had to help. So she walked over to Peter and sat beside him. Peter slowly looked at her, the sadness and worry once again making its way across his face. But it disappeared only a moment later.
Sydni smiled at him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Please Peter." She said. "Tell us what happened."
"I need to know." Abby said, taking a deep breath. "I need to know what he went through. What he endured, because he married me. I love him, and I have to know what he's been through."
"Okay." Peter breathed. "I'll tell you."
Abby felt a wave of relief wash over her as she smiled.
Anna inched closer to her friend, incase she would need a shoulder to lie on at any point.
Sydni looked lovingly into Peter's eyes, silently telling him thank you, and signaling for him to begin.
Peter took a deep breath before beginning the story.
"Once Edmund knew who Alaska was, he was stricken with an immense amount of guilt. Almost too much for him to handle."
"Because he became friends with Jadis' daughter." Abby said.
"Exactly." Peter said before continuing.
"I found him shortly after his meeting with Alaska. To say the very least, it wasn't pretty."
