Edmund managed to be dressed and ready for school with two minutes to spare. The Pevensies made it to the train station about fifteen minutes before the train for school left the station. Having extra time, they each went their separate ways in an attempt to pass the time.
Susan busied herself looking through a magazine from the stand on the corner.
"Su?" Peter said, walking up to his sister.
"Yeah." She replied, not looking up from her magazine.
"I'm worried about Edmund." Peter said.
Susan sighed as she looked up at Peter.
"Yeah." She breathed. "What happened this morning?"
Peter sighed. "He lost his ring."
"From the wedding?" Susan questioned.
"Yeah."
"Did you find it?"
"No." Peter replied. "Susan, he tore his entire room apart in an attempt to find it. He was on the brink of tears this morning. He's not doing well at all."
"I know." Susan replied. "I mean, it's understandable, but I think it's time he moved on. It's been a year since we left Narnia, and way longer than that since he has seen Abby."
"Do you think we will ever go back Susan?" Peter asked, staring off in the distance.
Susan sighed. "Honestly Peter, no, I don't. "
Peter looked at Susan when she said this.
"Look, we need to accept that we live here, in England. We shouldn't pretend any differently."
Peter sighed. "I guess so. But I still miss it. "
"Me too." Susan said. "But, we can't go back, so we might as well just forget about it."
"That means, Edmund will never see Abby again." Peter said.
"Maybe it's better that way." Susan said. "I mean I loved Abby. I loved Anna and Sydni as well. But, it's hard enough on Edmund not seeing her, seeing her again would just make it much harder."
"I never liked the idea of the marriage much anyway." Peter said.
"Why not?" Susan asked.
Peter sighed.
"Oh I don't know. I mean, they were so young. At the moment I didn't mind so much, but as time passed I sort of wish the whole thing never happened. It just caused Edmund so much pain. Getting married to a girl he knew for a few weeks, then she left one day after the wedding, and they never saw each other again. Edmund completely refused to be with any other girl. So many girls fancied him during our Reign in Narnia - but he always told them he was married. As time went on I grew to resent Abby, because if she wasn't in the picture, maybe Edmund would go out with another girl and he could be happy again."
"So, you don't like Abby?" Susan asked.
"I did. But she has caused Edmund so much pain. He is so hung up on her that he will never give himself the chance to fall in love. Or rather - fall in love again, I suppose."
