"Edmund!" Peter shouted, beating on his brothers door before walking inside."We have to leave for the train to school in fifteen minutes! Get out of bed now!" He said before leaving the room again, slamming the door behind him just to be sure Edmund was awake.

Edmund groaned as he rolled over and slowly sat up. He rubbed his eyes and let out a sigh of frustration. He was not in the mood to go to school today, or even get out of bed for that matter.

But the laws of England required him to go to school, and his mood made no difference in the matter. So, he slowly and forcefully sat on the edge of the bed, his legs hanging off the side as he prepared to get up.

First and foremost he reached for his ring, as he did every morning. But to his absolute horror, it was not there.

He kept it in a small box on his nightstand next to his bed. He bought the box after he returned to England with the ring, making sure he would never lose it. The only time he took his ring off was when he went to sleep. He always had his ring with him, and if it wasn't on his finger it was in the box.

But somehow today, that was not the case.

He looked down at his finger, only to see it was bare. He then looked in the box again, his heart sinking at seeing it was empty. He looked all over the nightstand, wondering if it had fallen off during the night. He moved the few other items that sat there, but found nothing. He looked under it, behind it, he checked all the drawers.

He tore apart his bed, thinking he had possibly forgotten to take it off and it fell off his hand during the night. He removed the blankets and ripped off the sheets. He took the pillowcases off his pillows, and crawled underneath his bed. He checked behind his bed, and looked on the floor on all sides of the bed.

Edmund's ring, was nowhere to be found.

He didn't even want to think about losing the ring. It was the only thing he had left from the wedding. The only thing he could physically hold that reminded him of Abby. If he lost it, he would never recover.

Tears appeared in his eyes as his breathing became heavy.

"Peter!" He screamed, his voice cracking.

A few seconds later Peter came into the room. "What?" He asked, sounding a bit worried at the urgency in his brothers voice.

"My ring." Edmund said as his eyes filled to the brim with tears. "It's gone."

Peter stared at his brother, an unimpressed look on his face."Your ring?" He questioned, raising his eyebrows. "That's what you screamed - like someone was killing you - about?"

"Peter." Edmund said as his face turned red in anger."I've had a rough year, and that ring is the only thing that has brought me the slightest bit of joy. It's been years since I have seen the love of my life. She came to Narnia a few years into our reign, and we fell in love immediately. We found out she would become Queen of Narnia, and then leave Narnia! We got married, and she left Narnia the next day! Then we ruled Narnia for years before we were abruptly ripped away. It's been a year since then, and my life, has gone downhill. I have to live every day without her. I own one thing that reminds me of her and gets me through every single day of my life. And now it's gone, and I don't think I can go on without it."

Edmund had tears streaming down his face. He had shouted every word he just said, so his throat was raw by now. He trembled as he stared at Peter, before sniffling and quickly wiping the tears away.

Peter sighed, regretting being too harsh on his brother.

  "I'm sorry Ed." He said.

Edmund sniffled. "I just-" he sighed, deciding not to finish his sentence, at least not right now.

"Let me help you find the ring." Peter said, clapping his hands and rubbing them together. "Now where was the last place you remember having it?"

"Last night." Edmund replied. "I sat by the window looking at the stars, and it was on my finger then."

"Well, maybe it fell off while you were sitting there?" Peter suggested walking towards the window.

"Peter-"

"Hold on-" Peter said cutting him off.

He got on his hands and knees on the floor by the window, looking for the ring. He also looked on the windowsill.

Eventually he sighed and stood up. "It's not here Ed."

"I know." Edmund replied. Because I know I had it when I got into bed."

"Do you take it off when you sleep?"

"Yeah. I have a box on my nightstand that I keep it in every night."

"Maybe you forgot to take it off and it's somewhere in your bed." Peter said, walking across the room, intending to look for the ring in Edmunds bed.

"I know that didn't happen because-"

"Woah." Peter cut Edmund off as he walked up to his bed. Seeing it was torn apart, and the blankets, sheets, and pillows were dispersed everywhere.

"Because I already looked." Edmund finished.

Peter sighed, he then checked around the nightstand and looked in the box just to be sure.

  "Well Ed, it's not here."

Edmund looked to the ground and let out a sigh.

"We don't have time to find it right now, but after school I will help you find it."

Edmund looked sadly up at his brother as tears appeared in his eyes.

"Listen Ed." Peter said, walking over to Edmund and putting his hands on his shoulders. Edmund looked his older brother in the eyes, holding his tears back. "I'm sorry that we can't look for it right now, but as soon as we get home I'll help you find your ring. Susan and Lucy will help as well. We are going to find it, and everything will be okay. Alright?"

Edmund stared at his brother for a moment before slowly nodding.

"Okay." Peter said letting go of Edmund.
"Now you have to get ready because we need to be walking out the door in ten minutes!"

"Alright." Edmund said, absolutely no emotion in his voice. He solemnly walked to the bathroom, tears still filling his eyes.

Peter sadly watched Edmund as he closed the door and slowly made his way downstairs.
